I've seen a lot of bad horror movies. This is awful to a whole new level. Not even so bad it's good. A painful, agonising watch, this is by far one of my least favourite movies. Why would anyone watch this Z-Grade horror film that borrows from The Exorcist, The Shining, Paranormal Activity, and any supernatural horror that's come out in the last century. Nauseating camerawork, thin scares, and awful characters, The Devil's Toybox is horror done wrong. Really wrong.
What's so special about Se7en? As a fan of crime thrillers (Zodiac is one of my favourite modern films) I expected this to be mind blowing. It's a pretty standard mystery that's way too long. It's alright, certainly not a classic. Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman deliver solid performances, although it's not enough to save this largely forgettable thriller. The ending bunks this film up to a 6/10.
