I have tried to watch this silly movie several times.
Every time I either fall asleep or turn it off when I've had enough.
I just couldn't care less about beneficent aliens. I find the entire subject silly and irrelevant.
I much prefer the malevolent flavor of alien. That's the type of alien we're most likely to encounter if we ever encounter any at all.
What makes humans believe that beneficence is proportional to the level of intelligence? Was it ever true throughout human history? Was it true for any conquered people? Was it true of the Europeans who conquered the new world? Was it true of the Ottomans or the Europeans who ran the slave trade?
Whenever a superior civilization with superior technology encounters a more primitive one, the outcome is always conquest and exploitation; or worse still, predation (if the superior civilization is so inclined).
People who think that we were founded by ancient beneficent astronauts or that there are wonderful alien species that just want to share their wisdom and blessings with us are like the dumbasses in "Independence Day" who held a welcome party on top of the skyscraper and were summarily nuked as the initial act of that superior species!!
They should be forced to watch the 1983 mini series "V"! Or at least watch the Twilight Zone episode, "To Serve Man!"
LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!
