I must be missing something huge here. How did Conan O'Brien and John Goodman sign off on being a part of this film? The main three characters were horrific rip-offs and unfunny versions of the Workaholics. The plot was non-existent, but if I had to compare it to anything, I'd say it's a terrible ripoff of "Without a Paddle." Maybe they were trying for "The Package," which to me was surprisingly hilarious. Bottom line, there was nothing funny, nothing original, and the comedy group that made this should be embarrassed for using whatever nepotism they must possess for getting this made. I'm sure those guys are funny doing improve, but this movie was impossible to watch.
I can't think of many films that can successfully pull off extremely dark, depressing subject matter while still being hilarious and heartwarming at the same time. Trainspotting is one that comes to mind. This is not like Trainspotting, but it hit my gut and tickled my funny bone in a similar way. I've never heard of Jerrod Carmichael or the team of genius writers behind this, but I look forward to seeing more from all of them. This was a brilliant film with amazing performances from the leads Carmichael and Christopher Abbott. The surprising cameos sprinkled in show how impressive the writing was from first time film makers. Keep these coming and I'll keep watching!
I love a good road trip movie, and I love a good action movie with car chases. Queen Latifah and Beau Bridges are great actors. I'm not on board with other reviewers complaining about social commentary. The movie attempted to make some real valid points. Unfortunately they leaned to hard these issues in a basic stereotypical way and left out everything else that makes for a good movie. I wish I could put it more eloquently, but this was just a stupid, cheesy movie. Terrible dialogue, terrible acting, boring and predictable storyline, and clearly poor direction. This could've been a fun movie, but it ended up being something a teenage YouTuber could've done with they're friends if they'd been given a few million bucks.
