Pollyanna (2003)
A great adaptation by ITV!
Amanda Burton plays, as usual, a great role in this drama which is particularly moving in parts. The plot is very interesting and the costumes and settings are second to none. Georgina Terry was a wonderful actress in this for someone who was so young and Pam Ferris always adds her touch of comedy to dramas!
Great drama! 10/10!
The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988)
Very good...but sequels were better!
Very good..but I found the sequels better, especially the second one..that was the best! How the americans could only give it a PG 13 though is beyond me..especially when it has a concrete dildo involved and when huge condoms are thrown around. A 15 used by the British Film Classification Authority is much more adequate!
Hot Money (2001)
Great Drama!
Another great British drama which was based on a true story. A gripping plot and interesting story line makes this a great drama to watch, especially if you are going to rob the Bank Of England! :-) .I hope ITV will keep making such great dramas of this caliber!
Well done! 10/10 definitely well deserved!
Un tè con Mussolini (1999)
Wonderful Moving Film....Get rid of the pieces of s*** who deem this a bad film!
A great British film with wonderful performances by Maggie Smith, Judi Dench and Joan Plowright. People such as 'Teabags' who commented on this film in 2001 should be thrown out of the IMDB for not showing any decorum what so ever. Publically using racist comments like that. This is a wonderful film and I have seen very few American ones that match the style of the acting and plot.
10/10 Excellent!
Goodbye, Mr. Chips (2002)
Such a wonderfully touching drama.
This is one of the most interesting and touching dramas I have ever seen with stunning performances from all of the cast, especially Martin Clunes and Victoria Hamilton. I loved this drama to bits. I watched this on ITV a few nights ago and have to say that all of their dramas are spot on! Thankfully there were no Americans in the cast who could tone down this wonderful British programme!
Absolutely excellent! 10/10 !
A Good Thief (2002)
Once more ITV dramas are at an exceptional best!
Wonderful drama again from British tv which seems to get just better and better. In this twisted, emotional and interesting plot, one can get really involved and really feel the characters performances. A wonderful actress was Kay Mellor who always seems to put in a good show! Well done to everyone!
10/10 definitely for this great drama! Keep them coming!
A Is for Acid (2002)
A Fabulous Adaptation!
Martin Clunes is again is a wonderful actor in this drama of a true story set in the war years. He plays a highly convincing murderer and plays the part wonderfully. Another great British drama which is very interesting to watch. 'Goodbye, Mr Chips' is another great British drama which no american ones even seem to get close to! Keep them coming British tv, keep this entertaining drama coming.
Worth 9/10 definitely!
Steel Magnolias (1989)
A wonderful film in every sense of the word!
One of the best films ever made and definitely deserves a much higher rating than 6.8/10! More like 9/10 because of its wonderful story line, plot and characters. Dolly Parton, Sally Field, Olympia Dukakis and Shirley MacLaine are all great actresses in this fully emotional film. The end is tearful and the accents are really sweet and Southern. Very authentic. What a great touch Dolly Parton brought to the film!
This gets my 10/10! It deserves it! Ban all the cold hearted souls who find this film pathetic! If they can do better than let them! But I won't watch their films! I'll be watching Steel Magnolias! Great work Girls!
Bella Mafia (1997)
What a wonderfully moving movie!!
Why did so many people in the past rubbish this movie? It is one of the best I've ever seen, and I've seen a few I can tell you! Vanessa Redgrave was a wonderful actress and the wives of her sons all played their part extremely well. Nastassja Kinski was particularly good. It was so moving in parts. A great piece of work and I haven't read the novel yet, but I will do now I've seen the film.
Atomic Train (1999)
A Good Movie really
*****Spoilers******
This was quite a good movie with quite good casting, apart from that little boy he got on my nerves... needs more acting school!! The plot was good and gripping in places and the good thing was you didn't know what would really happen at the end.... you think the nuclear missile might not explode and they de-activate it, well that's what I thought... until..... I'll let u watch it!
Worth more than the paltry 4.6/10 they've given it.....more like a 7... I gave it 9.
Night of the Living Dead (1990)
What C***!!!
What a load of c***! The acting was lousy, the special effects could have been done better with a fork and bucket of water, as for the scenery well they could have at least done the house up a bit....Too much swearing and a on going plot that never develops were too much for me!! Even though I just managed to watch it the whole way through!! The end was rubbish too!! The acting could have been made better if monkeys were the stars!! What c***!
2/10 and that was only because the beginning was funny!!
Cybill (1995)
One of the greatest comedies of all time!!
I am a big fan of Cybill Shepherd and have loved her comedy sit-com. Every episode throws up unforgettable laughs and memories and Cybill and Maryann form a unbreakable bond. All the actors perform excellent roles and always make the show a delight to watch. I haven't really seen any other American comedy to match this! Far better than "Will and Grace" or "Friends". Please don't lower yourselves to that trash!!! Monkeys would perform better!! It is such a shame that they stopped making other Cybills......please do more..... We need you!!
Trial & Retribution: Trial & Retribution IV - Part One (2000)
This is faultless!! So gripping!
I sat down to watch this on a Saturday night.... could have been Sunday and was throughly impressed with the great acting and gripping plot. It provided me with a good night's viewing!! Well Done English telly again!!
Hit and Run (1999)
A wonderfully adapted film!!
This is such a great movie to watch and all the actors put together a great film which would be enjoyed by everyone! It is very emotional in parts, so when you watch it grab a box of tissues to keep you company!! This movie doesn't deserve a rating below 10/10!
Event Horizon (1997)
Surprisingly mediocre......
It's not the best film I've seen its got to be said... but certainly not the worst.... It gets good marks for individuality and creativeness.... but the acting could have been better.... It was good in parts.. but I'm easily pleased!! 8/10
ChuckleVision (1987)
A lovable programme with episodes that can be watched over and over again!!!
ChuckleVision is a comedy for children and lasts for about 20 minutes. It is a very popular British series and is still going on today! It is highly successful as it has really variable story lines and some excellent acting. Nothing else like this has been produced on television before. The locations are like those in reality and easy to relate to. If I could rate this programme I would give it no lower than 10/10!!
Keep this going boys! You're doing well!
Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows (2001)
A wonderfully vivid documentary that exceeds expectations!
I never imagined that this film would be so truly gripping and interesting to watch, as Judy Garland was not my favourite actress at the time. But upon watching her documentary I have completely changed my mind. The film is really vivid and full of twists and turns about Judy Garland's Life. All of the acting was done superbly and was so good that Judy Davis actually looked and sounded just like her character on screen.
An excellent film!! 10/10
The Ruth Rendell Mysteries: May and June: Part One (1997)
A slow start, but a commendable middle and ending.
This film had a reasonably slow start, but soon developed into a thriller that of commendable quality. The acting is very good and the story line is excellent, proving to be exceptional. Having two sisters in the film gives it a mild twist.
A Little Princess (1995)
Films of this quality are rarely made today.
This is truly a unique film that needs to be treasured, as not many films of this quality are made. The acting is to be commended, especially Eleanor Bron as Miss Minchin And Liesel Matthews as the little girl Sara. The story line is really touching and heart warming. The end of the film is a part that should not be missed. A wonderful film to watch on a cold winter's night!!
I gave it a well deserved 10/10, as the film did not have any faults at all!!
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
What a wonderfully made family film!!
I don't believe that this film has only scored 6.3/10 on this web site!! Surely it should be much more!! The acting was brilliant! Anthony Hopkins was a wonderful narrator for this movie and the casting was excellent! The plot was great, yet some people say this film is Rubbish!! What is wrong with them!? Jim Carrey excelled himself when he was acting in The Grinch. Jokes were made at every opportunity
MINOR SPOILER AT THIS POINT!
I just love the bit when he is rumbling through the rubbish at the tip when he finds some red bags marked "HAZARDOUS" and says "What is that stench!!!.... It's fantastic!!"
Christine Baranski is great too, as usual in her television appearences! And little Taylor Momsen really added her own special light to the film!!
Sack the ill hearted, misely critics this Christmas who say this film is trash!!
Shining Through (1992)
What a smashing film!!
What a truly gripping film and storyline!! Melanie Griffith played her role as a spy beautifully, and Michael Douglas added his own special touch to the film. The late John Gielgud and Joely Richardson were also stars who made the film that little bit more eye catching!! In some parts it was emotional too, showing how Germany was like in the 1940's era. A very moving and successful film, which deserved every bit of its 10/10!!
Inspector Gadget (1999)
A film that didn't live up to it's potential
I was a great fan of the Inspector Gadget series, but this is just too silly and out of touch to match the cartoon. In the cartoon Claw has a black cat, but in the film he has a white one!! They obviously haven't been doing their homework on the subject!! The only bit that made me laugh was when the yahoo sign came down and somebody yodelled 'YAHOOOOO!!!' I have to give them some credit for that, but the film didn't live up to my expectations.
3/10 is all I thought it was worth- If there was a black cat I might have considered giving it 5/10.
Entrapment (1999)
Don't they work so well together!!
Don't Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta Jones work so well together!! In the film they made the plot sound exciting and held everyone in suspense for many times!! They go together as criminals to Malaysia to rob the huge bank there of all its assets!! (Well over $8 Billion) But they hit a lot of snags along the way!!
The Witches (1990)
What a wonderfully made film!!
The Witches is a really unique film that totally outlives your expectations and will make you watch it repeatedly over and over!! I promise you won't have even bat an eyelid if you watch this a thousand times over! Nobody will get bored of it ever in my opinion!! It is something for all ages really!! I wish I had a witches powers though so I could banish away all my disgusting enemies!!
A great film-shame I couldn't have given it 11/10 !!
Chances Are (1989)
If I could give this 20/10 then I would jump at the chance!!
I've always been a big Cybill Shepperd fan, ever since I saw her series a few years ago!! This film certainly shows her in her best light yet!! The film was so wonderfully cast and played!! Every now and again she drops little amusing lines, just to make this film one of the best I've ever seen!! Everybody really out does themselves!! Especially Robert Downey Jr and Cybill Shepperd, they really made the film come true!! Also I loved the little bit where Mavis loses her wig and she nearly dies when she falls to the floor!! This is film at its best!!
