I didn't know how much of this movie would be about baby humour, but that turned out to be the main plot to the movie.
I was expecting Ultraman has to balance his personal issues with the hero gig, and all the sudden this little kaiju comes along and he has to control it.
Instead, this movie makes a hard swap to be all about parenting with a lot of gross-out humor. Like, a lot. The kaiju is more like a human baby than a creature, which makes it unpleasant how hyper-specific they get with the gross things.
The parenting plot is fine, but it feels sudden and simple. Also Sato's baseball interest has zero importance to the plot or him. They try to tie it in to his family, and make it a therapeutic thing for him, but they don't quite take it far enough. To a point where you could cut out all the baseball stuff entirely and it would change nothing. Just make him a guy with an ego, and we have extra time for plot.
All this with a surprisingly long runtime, I became bored not long into the film. Then I realized it was much longer. Instead of adding more story, they sort of just put more montage sequences of the same things and talking that didn't add much.
Then the ending is suddenly here and it all happens quickly, because everything before was stretched out. Battle, cliffhanger, end.
I think there's a lot of good elements here, just very underwhelming execution and way too long for its own good. I think it would've been better if it was 30 minutes shorter. With the rise in more impressive animated movies, I was hoping this was one of them. But it's only that in visuals, underneath, it's the same standard animated movie.

I was really hoping for a show about werewolves with an intriguing story and feral fight scenes. But instead, they made it much too kiddie. Which is a very strange choice for the subject material, people turning into savage beasts and fighting for dominance.
I didn't expect a mature series for teens to adults, but this felt very neutered.
To such a point where a werelord will attack someone and there will be no blood, no scratch, not even a tear in the clothing?? I'm not asking for brutality, but you can show some damage.
The plot felt very rushed, and I barley got to know the characters. At one point characters are crying for fear of losing another, but it felt like they spent a day together.
The plot and characters are archetypes I've seen many times over, and they didn't do much special with them.
The things I did like. I thought the animation was visually appealing. Although, the low frame rate can be a little off putting at times.
The idea of the characters are good. I liked the supporting characters, good to see some strong female characters. I liked how the more lady-like one could still pack a punch when needed. The world building has a lot of potential.
I've never heard of or read the books, but werewolves are right up my alley. But once again, werewolves get screwed over.
It's sadly just ok. I'm sure families will enjoy it, but anyone else will find it quite underwhelming.

I was interested by the visual art style and the subject matter. I saw fantasy with shapeshifters and I was engaged.
The characters weren't bad and the plot was engaging enough. I think it can be a bit simple sometimes, but there wasn't much that I didn't enjoy in some way. Even when the plot went up and down, the bad I found entertaining regardless.
I've heard this is based off of some books, but I've never read them. It seems it diverged a bit, and it seems they made it with a younger audience in mind. Even as an adult, I find the show nice to watch.
There's a decent amount of diversity which makes the characters have more flavor to them. I feel some of the world building is weak, which contributes to the plot later. For example, the trolls aren't main characters, but their designs are very generic and repetitive.
I'd say, it's a good series to watch. Check it out if you want something with supernatural/fantasy and shapeshifters, with colorful visuals. Enjoy the highs and lows, even the bad moments are entertaining.
