The first strike against this was chip and Joanna. The second was the choice of families. The first family couldn't mow their yard so good luck plowing a field. The second family might stand a chance. The third family were Kardashian wannabes. That right there was the third strike. I confess that I did not even make it through the first episode because it was that bad.
How does a small town deal with a tragedy such as a mass shooting? This is a tiny town, where everyone knows everyone else. The shooter did not come from the outside, but was one of them. Where do you put the grief, rage, anxiety, guilt? These are people you knew. She sat next to you at church. She shopped in your store. Her kids know your kids. What do you do about the resulting suicides from the loss? How do you address the fact that you have lost a major employer and the soul source for groceries and other items in a small town? How does this town unite and get beyond? The series addresses all of these show well. I can't recommend it enough.
I have an autism/Asperger's diagnosis. This was the most incorrect, horrendous, depiction of autism that I have ever seen. We are not crazy. We do not require admission to an asylum. We are not naturally violent. Perhaps the French are behind the rest of the world. This was so incredibly offensive that I could not watch another second of it. Perhaps the series itself is OK. I will never know. I love, police and procedural criminal drama. This seemed like it would be great to add to my library. How could anyone get all of this so absolutely wrong? Did they do no research, did they not speak to anyone with knowledge of autism? Evidently not.
