I don't get what some of the reviewers here expected from this movie. Who gets on Netflix in search of a cinematic masterpiece and thinks "Ah, this Netflix-produced teen action flick by someone who calls themselves McG sure will be it". 😂
This is exactly what you'd expect- just a fun, mindless modern day TV movie with average acting, average effects and lots of plot holes, but sufficiently engaging and entertaining. Perfect for a night in when you're tired and can't be bothered to follow anything more complex.
If you're looking for something ambitious, intelligent and well crafted there are enough choices out there. This isn't it, and it doesn't ever pretend to be.

I came looking for the Southern feel-good vibes of Hart of Dixie, and season 1 did deliver - not nearly as fun and lighthearted but definitely feel-good. I'm willing to overlook the Botox face, the ridiculous heels and drag make-up on regular moms and business women, that's to be expected on this kind of show. All the men being waaaay more attractive than their female love interest, weird but okay. Even the horrible fake accents are no big surprise.
Season 2 though, "oh Lawd". Ridiculous storylines, if you even want to call them that, incessant God-praising, completely made-up problems. So a teenager gets lovesick and acts out, a coach gets angry over losing a championship, am I seriously expected to be interested in this?
I'm guessing we could all really use some sweet nonsense to take our minds off things these days, but this is too boring even for casual viewing, unfortunately. Too bad.

Not sure why people feel the need to watch this just to complain about the "woke agenda" after. You can tell from the get go that this is going to be a diverse, female-centric show. If that's not your thing just watch one of the gazillion other shows featuring shallow pretty girls and all white casts, there really is no shortage.
Aside from that, pretty funny show with relatable characters that touches on some serious issues without getting too preachy. Good lighthearted entertainment to binge in a day or two.
