Way too confusing, way too loud and horrible choice of actor for the lead role. The movie had one cool scene (when they robbed the plutonium truck) but the rest of the movie was impossible to follow. The explanation scene at the gun range was way too short and offered little insight to what followed. Most of the characters had no depth and the main relationship between the wife and Washington made little sense. Did they really blow up a 747 for this movie? What a waste. Maybe Leo DeCap could have saved this film but even Michael Caine didn't help. Everyone says watch it again, but I don't think I have enough Tylenol to do so.
I loved Susan and Geena in this movie, but I found the story very cliche like and too simple. I feel that they could have done so much more with this film but were just out of ideas or imagination. They should have expanded more on the abusive relationships the women had (what the heck happened in Texas), but I guess that would have been too real for Hollywood. Also the fact that Susan's character was kind of a bully should have been more of a focus but was kind of swept under the carpet.
If they made the entire movie just of Elisabeth Shue's face I would have given it the same rating. She is an incredible actress and I find her beauty just captivating. With the said, the story is unbelievable and Nick Cage was just ok (no idea how he got an Oscar for this one). I'm not anti Nick (I like many of his movies like ConAir and the Rock) I just thought that playing a drunk was not that hard, though he wasn't bad at all. And what was with the Russian guys in the beginning, that plot element went nowhere. Oh, did I mention how much I like Elisabeth. Oh man, they don't make em like that anymore do they?
