I feel like I'm a little in the minority on this one because I do like what Zach Cregger offers with this concept and atmosphere, however, I did found the movie to be a tad underwhelming.
To start off, I thought Cregger's previous feature Barbarian was solid, not amazing or grand but it did have a good concept and energy. Here, Cregger's approach on the story about missing children and the investigation behind it is solid. As the atmosphere, production designs and the creepy structure surrounded within the characters and setting felt purposeful. It's themes and atmosphere feels like a dark and twisted version of the Brothers Grimm tale, included with some comedic twisted tones and sequences that does work with his direction. The writing from Cregger is pretty interesting as there are some concepts and developments that are creepy and interesting. However, while I do understand what the writing and purpose is going for, the way certain choices were made and how certain concepts were handed felt a bit too silly (especially the third act) and a little predictable to craft a lasting horrifying impact. Which unfortunately creates certain concepts and moments that doesn't fully make sense the more you sit with it.
All the performances are pretty good. Julia Garner and Josh Brolin were really good with their emotions and personalities. Alongside with Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams and Amy Madigan (whom I believe is a very highly under appreciated actress who deserves much more recognition). However, the characters didn't really nor peaked my full interest and I found myself not really connecting with them and because of this, it made the development feel a bit lackluster nor engaging at times. Including some children performances that aren't very great.
Alongside with the great soundtrack and sound designs, there are some good horror practical and special effects, and the uses of the color presentation is impactful. Including some good dialogue conversations.
Overall, despite my grips and some flaws, I think this is a solid fun pop-corn horror movie. With Barbarian, I believe Cregger has a good sense of direction and creative approach, but he does need to work on the writing, especially with third acts to become better.

Mario Martone's portray and tale about the background of actress and writer Goliarda Sapienza offers really nothing and a tedious approach to what could have been an interesting examination of a once well-known figure.
Martone doesn't seem to understand how to approach the subject creatively, as the direction, writing, and the themes that were discussed and displayed, felt tedious, cliche, and uninteresting. While I am not very familiar with whom Sapienza was, her story about what she has been though and the context is pretty interesting. But Martone doesn't succeed with it. Because as a whole, despite some of the decent camerawork, the structure and style as a whole, is another basic, cliche and uninteresting biographical approach. The way how characters are interacting, the emotions, the themes, and the overall sense of realism doesn't have a good flow, as if you can predict each movement and what comes next.
Valeria Golino and Matilda De Angelis are doing their best as their performances and chemistry does offer some good insight to their roles and personalities. Unfortunately, the dialogue felt rough, and at times, felt as if AI had written out some of the words. Alongside with the basic production design, uneven pacing, and overall, uninteresting atmosphere.
Frankly, with the poor approach to this story, I don't know what was Martone's intention with this movie.

What is this? I'm struggling to comprehend what I have just witnessed...
Imagine taking the story of War of the Worlds, a well-beloved sci-fi novel, then turned into a screen life presentation, but make it boring, idiotic, and pure cringeworthy to observe. This movie is basically that.
Every single moment of the writing, presentation, directing, visuals, editing, acting, and structure is so poor, sloppy, and annoying. Nothing about the writing makes any sense regarding it's sci-fi concepts, the logic, and the meaning behind it, and it's plastered with some real awful uses of CGI, sound designs, chopping editing, and bad dialogue. It's pretty clear the filmmakers and people involved with his movie clearly don't understand how the internet works because many uses of the digital platforms and presentation clearly shows the lack of logic and understanding behind it.
Ice Cube was absolutely bad in this movie and he usually tends to be pretty fun to watch. I don't know what happened here. Frankly, all of the performances are awful. Alongside with the terrible characters and uninteresting dynamics. The worst aspect is that this feels like a product placement for Amazon because there are lots of Amazon Product Placements throughout this movie, and it's pathetic.
I thought Smurfs (2025, Hurry Up Tomorrow, The Electric State, The King of Kings, and the Minecraft Movie was bad, but this one tops off the notch for the worst movie of 2025 thus far.
