I've just seen about 30 minutes of this film on the 'Great Films' channel (which, in the case of this production is an utter misnomer) and am now facing the harsh reality that it is half an hour of my life which I won't get back.
To paraphrase the late great Peter Cook: the problem with this film is it lacks everything - you name it, it lacks it. A plausible story line? No. A workable script? No chance. Any decent acting? Forget it. At least some viable GCI, it is after all a disaster movie? You must be joking.
You really have to ask yourself why they made it. It is effectively the homeopathic version of a disaster movie, as there are very weak traces of the genre, but nothing worthy of 2 hours of your life. Move on, nothing to see here, literally.

At last, in amongst the piles of 2nd rate rubbish pushed out by Netflix, comes a well constructed and impeccably delivered chiller. The casting is superb, with each of the main protagonists putting in a convincing performance. The masterstroke (IMHO), was the way in which they took the original Poe story and contemporised it, but kept the dark, sinister atmosphere of the original, along with a few nods to some of his other works. It was utterly compelling and a real pleasure to binge watch. If you like gothic horror, but delivered in a modern context, then this is definitely one for you. Enjoy.
Whilst I am a self-confessed military pedant (Naval family), I was willing to forgive a few errors, after all, The Hunt for Red October was packed with inaccuracies, but overall was still a good film (IMHO). Sadly this is terrible. Whoever they got to advice on how a sub works has clearly never been on one. It's not hard and does not cost any more to get the detail right, but sadly this was well beyond the production team. The script is stunningly cliched, the special effects weak and overall it just seemed to be dragging you through an unbelievable and somewhat woke agenda. No surprise the RN avoided any direct involvement. Suggest you avoid as well and get a bit of 'Kursk' or 'Das Boot' under your belt.
