In my opinion, this is the greatest movie of all time. Everything down to the smallest details make this movie mind-blowing. Frank Darabont did a fantastic job adapting the novella by Stephen King. Many movies use narration as a crutch due to bad storytelling but in this movie it's just amazing. Morgan Freeman did an extraordinary job as Red, and Tim Robbins was just as great as Andy Dusfrene. You can watch this movie again and again and again without getting bored. Like some 3 hour movies, this movie does not drag at all. Just do yourself a favor, and watch this movie. It's more than worth it.
If Batman is anything, it's a detective. This movie is probably the most comic-accurate live-action Batman film ever. Batman's monologues feel very comic book-inspired and the story is just great. This movie has accomplished the feat of creating a comic-accurate yet original Batman story. This film takes inspiration from Batman: The Long Halloween, Batman: Year One, and more. The action is just amazing and the acting is great. I think that Robert Pattinson was a great pick for Batman and plays the character very well. The lighting and overall environment of the film feels like a broken and corrupt city. I would definitely recommend for any comic book fan.
This movie tries to be to much like Gotham by Gaslight and it just doesn't work. The story is not very interesting and just throws in random things to introduce characters that reference the comics. Also, this doesn't feel like Batman to me. You could replace Batman with almost any other character and besides some plot changes, the movie would feel the same. Some of this may because this isn't really a Batman story. This isn't a noir or a crime-fighting story. It's about ancient legends and things that usually wouldn't apply to Batman. The animation itself was pretty good but it doesn't make up for a bad script.
