  • Weirdly wrong

Maybe am I too late to discover this movie now in 2025, maybe not a gamer enough, or maybe am I missing a bit of the pop culture that makes all the references make sense but the whole movie wasn't really enjoyable... it felt like some kids movie like a "Spy Kids" but with video games... First of all the music: either some too obvious classics or those Indiana Jones orchestral that seems out of place.. then the plot which is lazy, the villain that isn't charismatic or interesting, most characters miss some edge or story... nothing has any intelligence or subtleness, it is bland, obvious, overplayed... plus the real life sets look cheap.. I feel like the list is long enough to express the idea ; the movie doesn't feel that old as the graphics are excellent, one could say x1000000 better than what Meta did with its metaverse, but the overall experience feels quite disappointing for Spielberg!

  • Definitely overrated and from another era.

There could be have been some charm or beauty to it, but it is now quite dated and of poor taste. This is a pretty bad French movie, would be considered nowadays quite amateurish and low budget. A mix of uninteresting plots, mixing a bunch of unlikable and boring characters. It is from a period of experimentation and testing of how much sexuality and depravation can be seen on screen. But is is not an enjoyable watch. Too slow, too messy, uninteresting and not particularly well acted, plus the editing isn't good... I feel like it was about offering Romy Schneider a role where she could continue pushing her limits as an actress, yes she can cry, yes she can scream, yes she can look vulnerable and lost... however it is more a catalogue of theatrical emotions than a good role.

Testi & Schneider are particularly good looking which does save the movie!

  • S2 is a masterpiece

Very French show returning for a second season 10 years later in a different format, from a long season of short 2min episodes to a short season of 30-45min episodes.

The quality of that second season is phenomenal. I did watch the first episode out of curiosity but got hooked pretty quickly. It is very very good. The pace, the storytelling, the acting, the writing, the editing.. all is very very good. Laura Felpin is a gem. A few minor cringe moments every now and then but it's part of the identity of the show and definitely not a real issue.

Made me laugh, made me cry, made me think. I didn't expect a show of that quality and binged it in a day. 30-45yo will probably relate most as it is particularly relevant to general life situations.

Thank you and keep making that kind of qualitative content!!

(You can skip the first season you won't be lost.)
