Vetrimaaran had an outstanding film with Soori in Viduthalai part 1 n messed it all up with the 2nd part...This is the same problem that happened with Karthik Subburaj here, got too obsessed with so many sub plots that was inspired from his own earlier films... I really don't understand why so many big directors are fixated with a near 3 hr timeslot...Are they so obsessed with their own films they just forgot what the audience needs?? The first half was promising but the second half my god!! I was glad to have watched this film on Netflix or I would've gone restless n started moving around in my seat in desperation of leaving the theater...it was dragging n quite painful, even doubtful whether I was watching a different film..Jigarthanda films were a class apart...This is a clear example of how a director gets too obsessed with his craft n things just go bonkers...i really hope he comes back with a more grounded approach like how he started his film journey...
Saw this aired on Asianet Movies n thought maybe i'll sit n watch this film hoping it's a small feel good film...but unfortunately just like so many reviews here, I have the same opinion about this film that it is an utter waste of time...Movie is going on n on aimlessly with no proper story...The actors have done pretty ok n try very hard to be funny but u don't feel much connection with any of the characters nor u feel like laughing...i'm actually surprised how they shot the film without much story or any story for that matter, i'm even more shocked how the producers even greenlit this film...Were they creating scenes then n there while shooting?? So absurd...
I didn't see the film in theatres so all along until it reached out in OTT I was hearing how great the film was n it's the first martial arts film n things like that...Tbh it's an action oriented film n no way near a martial arts movie, a few bits hear n there resembling martial arts that's it...Abrid Shine was the first director to make a proper martial arts film but it was lacklustre n boring...In this movie, I really expected a martial arts film with similar choreography like u see in asian films but ur going to be highly disappointed cos they've hyped the film to the core...The theme is centred around a martial arts school but ironically there's very little martial arts n more of slow motion choreography, bgm n poses...It's a one time watchable film, I really can't trust anybody's reviews anymore until it releases on OTT...Marketing n hype has really degraded a film's actual review n this is one of those very good examples. Strictly one time watchable.
