Good movie, although two things: the second half is far better than the first (it starts pretty typically and seems run of the mill) and the second is I wish there would've been more realistic reactions to a person getting bludgeoned to death (as well as the other deaths that occur and the relative nonchalance with which it's observed).
Everything about how this movie looked and sounded was great. But the creators asked you to believe a lot of things that were sometimes a bit hard to believe.
Some of it was a leap but the story did push forward, hoping you'd stay with it which wasn't hard to do. The hate for this movie is undeserved, but there are flaws which maybe wouldn't have been difficult to fix. The big one is perhaps the story should've just begun in the lake house after the initial (and very good) opening.
My biggest issue with this story isn't even the glaring decisions but more often the desire to make everything obvious. There was nothing at al left to the imagination, in dialogue, or in the actual culprit when he is revealed, in disguise, fairly early on.
I wish they'd played with the other men that surround the mother as potential suspects.

Watch this if you're on the fence. You won't regret it. Not a blood fest, just a good story of a group of twisted people getting by, just trying to stay alive. Worth the time, and you can tell pretty quickly you're in good hands, story wise.
