This was the slowest episode of the season.

We got a lot more face time and character development from the excellent Blessing (Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine ). A lot of screen time from the most improved Jack Alcott (Harrison). It was a top episode for Dexter (Michael C. Hall). And...we meet 'Bobby Bacala' (Steve Schirripa).

Clearly, Dexter and Batista (David Zayas) are on a collision course. A great twisty ending.

We're halfway through the season and it's just flown by.

I continue to be struck by how funny the writing is; some lines are laugh-out-loud funny. I'm also struck by the great chemistry between Michael C. Hall (Dexter) and James Remar (Harry); especially in light of how bad 'Dexter: New Blood' was.

Also, Dexter has regained his clever cunning that the writers stripped him of in 'New Blood.'

Fortunately, we saw little of the annoying character and actress, Det Wallace (Kadia Saraf). We did, however, have to endure Lesley Stahl and that was a chore.

But, all-in-all a good episode and very funny!

I completely missed this series when it ran on TNT, but caught it on Netflix. I tuned in to watch the truly awful new series 'The Waterfront,' and did a quick search of Jake Weary and found this excellent series 'Animal Kingdom.'

Let's start with the truly evil monster 'Smurf,' (Ellen Barkin). I couldn't wait for this character to die, but Barkin created a truly iconic character.

The British 'boys' were all excellent: Ben Robson (Craig), Scott Speedman (Baz), whom I knew from his excellent turn in 'Dark Blue,' and Finn Cole (J), whom I knew from 'Peaky Blinders.' Jake Weary (Deran) was also very good. But, it was Shawn Hatosy (Pope), who also did a great job in another underrated series, 'Southland,' who, next to Barkin, gave the most riveting performance. Kudos to Dennis Leary (Billy) for a memorable supporting role.

I did not like the music track. The direction and photography were consistently excellent; especially the action/stunt scenes.

The biggest problem was the ill-conceived flashback scenes that began appearing in Season 4. I had zero interest in the back story and ended up fast forwarding every time the flashbacks appeared.
