One of the best opening sequences in the entire show. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.
I did find the fact that they didn't die rather surprising (and a bit unbelievable), but I'm just glad they added a bit of tension to the season. The visuals are better than ever, and the cast remains top-notch.
Exceptional episode. I would definitely watch the premiere and this one together.

I gotta admit that the ending took me totally off guard. Besides that, the rest of the episode was terrific! The last fight sequence was especially great, and I found the direction as a whole to be a lot slicker than the previous two episodes. The Turnbows are some of the funniest characters in the entire show.
Excellent episode! It 100% delivers on the Stranger Things charm. I got lots of Season 1 vibes from this.

Maybe.
The first episode of the final season is always hard to pull off. The task becomes even more burdensome when the audience has waited for over 3 years. For the most part, The Crawl does a good job of laying down the foundations of the new season.
I was surprised by how much emphasis they put on Holly's character. The concept of a crawl is intriguing, though I agree with Steve when he says there's no real purpose. Most of all, I was relieved that the cast still has great chemistry together.
Excellent start. Nothing wrong with this episode, though I do hope the season picks up steam.
