Remember Man of Steel? I enjoyed that fresh take on Clark's origin. But after the muddled Batman v Superman and the hero-soup of Justice League, DC felt out of steam.
This new installment never answers the simplest question: why tell this story again, and why now? The genre is already overcrowded, and another CG-saturated, city-level smack-down-complete with the same orange-gray skyline-only underscores the formula. With nothing new to say about power, hope, or humanity, Superman feels like brand maintenance on autopilot.
The pacing doesn't help. Long, ponderous dialogue scenes had me nodding off, only to be jolted awake by chaotic, Avengers-style camera whirls. And the story bloat: Why is the dog even there? These cameos play like trailers for movies we haven't asked for.
Bottom line: instead of a bold new chapter, we get a reheated reboot that reminds us just how threadbare the cape has become.
Ugh - and there is fantastic 4 reboot coming out again..Why.

While, I love artistic movies that blend style, story telling, and good acting, I was really trying to understand the play and then the movie and how they connected and why they connected. I feel the cast were grouped together either because they wanted to be part of a Wes A film regardless of what they thought about the plot if any. While, Wes usually casts the same folks from his prior movies, wonder how interesting this movie would have been with unknown cast members. Is it a trick to bring audiences in with famous names? Can we just watch a story without thinking on the cameos and who would be next to show up. I did enjoy the visuals, unrealistic in the real the world, the dialogue (no one talks like that), but it was an experiment in the arts, this film and while the main purpose of this film a visiting alien, nothing more was said or progressed on that arc and felt empty. Could be any other school play performance or college movie with props.
I am not a huge follower of this franchise and at the start and when Paul walker passed, i enjoyed the series as it progress but later movies, i didnt bother because you know, jacked up cars, destruction and fast driving, not special anymore and becomes repetitive. The special effects in this one devoid of any physics, took the cake.
I kept saying RIGHTTTT! Like that action scene is indeed possible. Am i watching a fantasy car ride and why are theses cameos popping up everywhere.
So it seems they left it wide open for more sequels and god help us that we need to continue to see this franchise live for another movie.
