  • The Karate Kid Legend

If there's one reason to watch The Karate Kid: Legend, it's Jackie Chan but the film goes far beyond his legendary presence. At its heart, it's a gripping tale of a hero rising against his rival, with Aramis Knight's fiery intensity and powerful performance proving just as compelling as the hero's journey. The kitchen fight between Jackie Chan and Ben Wang is a standout, especially the hilarious sequence where the furious brawl keeps turning the lights on and off a moment sure to leave audiences in stitches. Aramis Knight's commanding screen presence, paired with stunning cinematography, keeps the suspense alive until the very end. What truly elevates the film is the chemistry of its cast. Jackie Chan brings timeless charisma, while Ben Wang, Sadie Stanley, and Aramis Knight add freshness and energy, making it remarkable how seamlessly so many young TV talents blend on the big screen. Directed by Jonathan Entwistle The Karate Kid: Legend isn't just a nostalgic revival it's an engaging mix of humor, action, and heartfelt storytelling that reminds us karate is more than fighting; it's a way of life.

    My Rating: 7/10.

  • Jurassic World A Disappointing Return to Isla Nublar

I had been eagerly awaiting Jurassic World for quite some time, hoping for another masterpiece in the tradition of the Jurassic series. With Steven Spielberg's presence as an executive producer and Colin Trevorrow in the director's chair, expectations were naturally high. The film, starring Scarlett Johansson, Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Ed Skrein, did introduce some unique and genetically modified dinosaurs, including variations of the T-Rex. However, they collectively failed to leave a truly strong impact. There were no genuinely terrifying sequences to match the franchise's earlier glory, and watching the apex predators let their prey escape time and again left me more frustrated than thrilled. At one point, seeing the T-Rex and other dinosaurs display such mercy made me wonder half-jokingly if we could actually keep them as pets. Several scenes felt unnecessarily prolonged, affecting the pacing. The cinematography was impressive, capturing the lush island landscapes and dinosaur scale effectively. Scarlett Johansson delivered a standout performance, while Ed Skrein's short appearance still managed to do justice to his role. Overall, this is a film you can watch once with an open mind, but it falls short of the magic and tension the Jurassic name promises.

    My Rating 5/10.

  • Thunderbolts A Cinematic Misfire by Marvel

Marvel's Thunderbolts, directed by Jake Schreier, feels less like a coherent superhero movie and more like a desperate attempt to reboot the franchise with half-baked ideas and zero emotional investment. In their pursuit to introduce the "New Avengers," Marvel seems to have completely lost the plot literally and figuratively. From the start, the movie is plagued by forced and meaningless scenes that add nothing to the narrative. There's no clear mission, no identifiable villain, and even the heroes feel like extras in their own movie. Florence Pugh's performance as Yelena Belova was underwhelming this time, lacking the spark and edge she previously brought to the role. On the other hand, Lewis Pullman delivered a surprisingly solid performance and did justice to his character. Cinematography, once a Marvel strong suit, has taken a backseat. Visually, the film is uninspired and flat. The action sequences are one-sided and dull, with no real stakes. It feels like they were thrown in just to meet a quota. Sound quality was another major letdown. Whether it was a post-production flaw or the fault of our download manager, the audio often felt muffled and unbalanced further detaching us from an already lifeless experience. Marvel's Thunderbolts at times feels less like a superhero film and more like a documentary set in a psychological rehab center, highlighting mental health struggles unintentionally, and in the most bizarrely artistic way possible. The overall result is a confusing, disjointed film that tries too hard to look cool without actually telling a story. If Marvel continues on this path, many longtime fans might find themselves however unwillingly turning back to the over-the-top drama and dance numbers of Bollywood, if only for some actual entertainment.

Despite receiving a decent rating overall, the film personally didn't appeal to me.

    My rating: 5/10.
