  • I read somewhere that the film is inspired by the career of Dariusz Michalczewski

Who also had an uncle who was a coach, was also a Polish champion, emigrated at a similar time and had a similar relationship with his wife. At the beginning of his emigration he also couldn't find a job and when he did fight they gave him weak opponents (supposedly). His private life was also similar to the film (he broke up with his wife and later got back together) and eventually he also returned to Poland. Apparently he didn't agree for the film to be his biography because he wouldn't have come out well in it, but it's hard to believe that the scriptwriters didn't communicate with him. I think this is the true story of boxing in Germany then and maybe now.

  • Good, light SF movie

The movie has a decent pace, keeps you in suspense and has a surprisingly light atmosphere, for a movie about monsters. There is even a bit of a family atmosphere and romance (5%), but it is mainly a movie about buddies (male-female relationships), with sharp language (sometimes funny) with horror elements, but the scenes are designed in such a way that even people who don't like horror movies can watch it. It is scary, but not too much, because the main characters support and motivate each other, often in a comical way. The plot is of a high standard, special effects too, there are some logical gaps, but they are either explained at the end of the movie or are not that important. Generally, I recommend it as an interesting, calming movie with horror elements :-)

  • This video talks about why people tend to forget the reasons for conflict.

Some people perceive this film negatively because they do not understand what the fight is about and cannot empathize with it. Forgetting that when you fight for something, after a while you get so tired of fighting that you no longer know what you are fighting for. Just like at work, what matters is work, work, work and no one asks why I do it, I just get up in the morning and go to work without bothering myself with such questions. Just like in war.

So 98% of people will not know what they are fighting for because they will be busy surviving. Even if they knew what they were fighting for at the beginning, tired of the conflict they would quickly forget about it, and the loss of the most motivated and loudest units in the fights would only deepen this state of ignorance.
