Who would have thought that Bette Middler was such a bad actress after all these years, the script didn't help at all, terrible storyline, no chemistry between the actresses. The whole movie looks improvised, bad directed.
I love Susan Sarandon, but this is not her best performance or project, it's a shame 😳

I generally enjoy Sara Silverman's comedy, i find it smart and creative, she is a great storyteller. This specific piece is very honest and a very well narrated story about her personal journey with her parents, at some points it gets sad and depressing, but she is a mature comic that teaches us that you can always find a silver lining on every situation.
Maybe the problem is that this material is the kind you expect to hear on a comedy special, and you start watching thinking about a great time with a witty comic, but after a few minutes you realise that it is quite dense, not very funny. It does not mean it is a bad special, i would just suggest to be aware that this is not the kind of show you want to watch if you want a big laugh.

The show has big flaws, Nathan Lane was born in 1956, Mat Bomer in 1977 and Nathan Lee Graham in 1968, so the idea of them being the gay version of the Golden Girls is a bit offensive from every side, on one side, Bomer is too young to be best friends from for ever with the other characters, and second they are probably trying to make Lane look younger?
The other thing is that 3 gay men on their "golden years" move to live together in palm springs, which is a desert, and is boiling hot most of the time. But the characters are always using heavy clothing, a lot of coats and scarfs...
But all these inconsistencies aside, the show looks cheap, not only the sets, the jokes and the stories, is very fake. The only reason why i give it 3 stars is because of Nathan Lane, whose stage presence and experience holds the show together, the other performers are OK, but they do their best to work with such a poor script.
At times, can be offensive, at others only absurd or ridiculous, some jokes land, but it is not enough to make it work.
