What a pity. Admittedly, I didn't realize that a new part of this series was coming, but when I found out I was really excited because I just liked the third part so much. But what I got was a pure disappointment. I have to admit that I didn't like the first films because they were so good, but because they were extremely entertaining and fun. And this film started with singing. I felt like I was in a bad nightmare before christmas. But after that it was the typical Hotel Transelvania stuff that just happened: Malvis is arguing with Dracu about Jonathan. That was all amusing and then came the best scene of the movie: Jonathan thinks Dracu just doesn't like him because he's not a monster and decides to go to the weird scientist in a wheelchair to have himself turned into a monster. Dracu arrives, not wanting Malvis to know or she'll get angry, and follows Jonathan around the hotel to turn him back to human with a crystal. Eventually he hits a mirror and then gets hit himself and becomes human. The crystal breaks and they have to get a new one to undo it. That's when you really start to notice that the animation style has changed (it feels cheaper and less fitting for the franchise). From then on it's the absolutely kitschy and clichéd, boring adventure that you've seen a hundred million times in bad children's films. And the ending, when Human-Dracu Monster-Jonathan monologues, is so ridiculous it becomes downright embarrassing. If you're going to see the movie, I won't say what happens after that because it's actually pretty funny, creative, and cool. All in all a disappointment, but the ending and the beginning are good, as usual.

The movie is really just bad. Even the progressor, whom I gave a 5 out of 10, is better. This movie thinks it's more than just bad action. The film thinks it is clever, emotional, political and full of tension. None of this is true. The film is boring, has no good action, and has no tension. This plot is so ridiculous that I hate the movie for that alone. I had a good conversation about movies with a friend the other day and after we got down to bad movies I had to talk about that movie. I could hardly remember, because he is so forgettable, but I tried to tell him what it was about. Terrorists storm the White House by somehow lying down in front of it for several days or so and then blowing open the house at the back of the house. Then they kind of capture the president and the terrorists want a system to recall atomic bombs or something and if the terrorists get that system it would be bad. I don't know why, because they can't shoot them, but ok. The terrorists need three codes for the system, each of which only one person knows. The first person has already given away the code without you noticing, and now it's up to the other two. One of them is the president. The second woman who knows the code is beaten and the president orders that she reveal the code. The hero of the story, who has actually already been fired, is afraid that the president will reveal the code if the terrorists catch the son who is also the White House for no reason. Yes, the film does the stupidest things to create a bad plot. I wonder why you think you are making such a film.

I always say that for Marvel films you always have to lower the IMDB rating by 1.0 in order to get the correct result, since 75% of the ratings come from far too strong Marvel fans. But Marvel usually does well what it's there for, good popcorn entertainment. I think in its genre you can compare the MCU with Fortnite as a battle royale game. It's fun, but the community is mostly toxic and it's designed to make a lot of money through the context of all the movies. This movie doesn't even manage to provide popcorn entertainment. And above all, it's a shame what you did with such a great hero and such a big budget. The movie just looks so gruesome and cheap in some that it hurts. The film actually starts out pretty well. Still just average and not good enough that anything stuck in my head. The only things worth remembering are the training sequences in the military because they are really funny. The setting from 1940 or so in that direction is also well chosen. But once Steve becomes Captain America, the movie just sucks. From then on, many superhero films get really exciting, but from then on this film is just boring because the action is forgotten and the rest doesn't work either. Especially from the time you see Red Skull for the first time, the film only looks cruel and cheap animated. The film is on par with Captain Marvel or even Red Notice. Clearly not a recommendation.
