After watching the entire series, I realized it felt like a social commentary on our individualistic and narcissistic culture. It made me sad, and I think it was supposed to make me laugh. It felt like everybody was so egotistical in this series there was not one redeeming character, including the protagonist. I wanted to like her a little more, but I just couldn't. She just kept sabotaging herself. Also, this series felt like it lacked a really good, strong plot sometimes it felt quite boring and like they were stretching the series for more episodes. I gave it a higher score because I loved all of the actors performances. It was nice to see Lena again, and I know she created this. I would say this had a beautiful moments and very disturbing moments, but I'm not going to be recommending it overall.
I am sitting here, trying to wrap my head around why the whole world isn't talking about this show. It is absolutely visually stunning and you can see the work that goes into this show. I absolutely love the costumes the wigs, and of course, more importantly the story. If you are a lover of historical fiction as I am, you should watch this show. It is not exact history! Keep that in mind however, there are real characters in this show who show up from time to time. The main protagonists are based loosely on an amalgam of several people from New York City past.
The storylines will reel you in immediately, and the acting is impeccable. There are characters you will love there are characters you will love to hate. Most importantly, the running theme of the show is nothing new is under the sun ever! We often think that the past was a simpler time, it's definitely not.

I had never heard of this show until I heard they are doing a remake! Where was I in 2009? I started watching it on Hulu and I'm absolutely blown away. I have never laughed so hard at anything, this cast is amazing. It's like a dream cast of comedians, and you are missing out if you're not watching this. If you love comedy, you will love this show. Adam Scott totally kills it and so does Lizzy Caplan, as they are portraying, struggling,down and out actors who can't seem to catch a break. It's totally real and totally hilarious in every single way. I highly recommend this show and nobody is paying me to say that!!!
