I would never have been fortunate enough to see this show except someone posted it on the Usenet; the world's best source for obscure media. Frankly, in my mind this is a classic example of what is good about file sharing. I am now aware of a show and a comedian that I would otherwise never have known of, and would gladly buy videos/DVDs of this series (if they ever wise up enough to make them available). That aside: the series is absurd and delightful. Like Britcoms, Canadian humor (someone come up with a clever knick-name for these, ok?) is different enough to appeal for the novelty, but the sheer quality of the show brings it universal appeal. If you get a chance, watch one! You'll want more.
Well, a lot funnier than this one is, unfortunately. From the premise I expected better, but this is a very flawed film. The pacing is not consistent, and the humor doesn't quite hit the mark. And when they suddenly take off on the romance tangent (why is this obligatory in every 'wacky' comedy?) it slows down even more. With judicious use of the remote control this has some moments, but don't expect to be laughing heartily...a couple smiles and a few laughs are the best this has to offer. There are a few nice cameos of some minor stars, and I managed to enjoy it for that.
