One approaches 'The Day of the Jackal' with a certain expectation, perhaps a frisson of anticipation for a nuanced thriller. Instead, one is met with a protracted and, frankly, tedious exercise in narrative meandering. The ten-hour runtime feels less like a carefully crafted tapestry and more like a sprawling, unkempt garden, choked with extraneous subplots that yield little to no substantive fruit.
While a single, fleeting ingenuity - the concealment of a rifle within a suitcase handle - offered a momentary flicker of interest, it proved a solitary spark in an otherwise profoundly dim landscape. The sheer opportunity cost of enduring this cinematic ordeal is, in itself, a lamentable tragedy. One is left with a profound disappointment. A disappointment amplified by the sheer, unyielding length of the production.

Wow! Just finished watching. Paran Banerjee (Sri Swapankumar) was incredible! His cameo was unbelievable, and the direction was intense-I really loved it. Although the supporting cast had a few weak spots, the strong performances from the leads and the witty dialogue kept the movie griping.
Watching it, I was lost in thought, reminiscing about the happy moments from my college days. I found myself vividly recalling the countless hours I spent devouring novels by Sri Swapankumar and James Hadley Chase. Those afternoons were filled with the thrill of their suspenseful storytelling and the joy of escaping into their captivating plots. It was a nostalgic journey back to a simpler time, where the excitement of each new book brought endless enjoyment.

An outstanding movie with a deadly intense combo of Aniket Chattopadhyay, Anjan Dutt, Kabir Suman and served by Kaushik Ganguly. Several dark themes woven seamlessly and presented refreshingly, coupled with soulful rap OSTs.
A rich, well spent evening.
On another note: Ironically the very mall, projected in the movie that displaced and killed so many Shankar Mudis in the country or as fashionably labelled 'disrupted Shankar Mudis' now, in 2022, stands destroyed! The mall-chain is bankrupt and hinging on doles and handouts now.
