This film by Jessica Hinkson is deeply appropriative of illness and disability while casting an entirely unsuitable able-bodied and privileged lead actor for the titular role. The performances by Samora Smallwood are inauthentic and over-reaching at the best of times - she is just another thin, mediocre woman who is only getting onscreen work because she is able-bodied and thin. She was not interesting or compelling to watch on screen and it would have been much more interesting and authentic for Jessica to cast a disabled or real-sized actor in the lead role. Work by the supporting cast was much more authentic and grounded, and the production design was adequate. Have to rate low because of the miscasted lead.
This film is done a massive disservice by its poor casting in 2/3 of the lead characters which makes watching it rather intolerable. Only the brunette is likeable and genuine, the other two performances come off over-acted and like the actors are trying way too hard. This is clearly someone's vanity project and was a waste of time to watch. Production quality for the other film elements beyond the performances, including secondary characters, are more professional and more tolerable. Still this film gets a skip from me and I wish I could get those 15 minutes of my life back from the Youtube hell where I came across this very mediocre film.
Indie-standard production value throughout, and an entirely unappealing female narcissist as the lead.
Perhaps if this webseries' lead, Nicole Simone, took better care of her business affairs instead of floundering as an aspiring actor to create a vanity project... well, then the Redemption Flaws website would not need to exist.
Currently, there are hundreds of negative complaints, including several serious allegations of harm to people and animals, against Redemption Paws, the private foundation disguised as a charity that she heads.
