Although somehow, I thought this movie was going to Look at a time, travel more seriously (think Outlander) I still enjoyed it very much when I saw it was going to be more in the hallmark vein. However, it had enough gentle suspense, and the two leads had great chemistry, that I rated it an eight. The male lead was especially good and dreamily, handsome, and even the secondary male lead, the Scottish caretaker was a hoot! I thought it was going to hit him at the beginning, but then I ended up appreciating him. The scenery was gorgeous, and I had a little bit of dampness in my eyes at the ending. My husband even watched the whole thing with me and that is saying something! So, if you're in the mood for a sweet, light story, this might be perfect for you.
From the description of this movie it sounded right up my alley. The scenery and the music are beautiful. But the acting is so bad. I've never taken a drama class, but I think I could act better than this. It's so sad because it looks like a great story but I cannot finish it. Would somebody with some talent, please remake this? I cannot fathom why anyone thought this movie was worth releasing. I need to find out if this is from a book or short story or whatever so that I can go read what it's really about and at least understand and complete the story. I'm no critic, but this one is about as poorly acted as anything I have seen.
My Bible study group and I read a brief biography of Lillias Trotter, and so when I saw this documentary, I had to watch it, and it far exceeded any expectations! Everything was beautiful...... No, beyond beautiful. The scenery, and the way the documentary was shot; the music; the voice actors, and the dramatization actors - all were excellent. Mostly it was so inspirational, learning so much more about Lilias' life and sacrifices for her faith, and the spread of the gospel. Her artwork is so lush and gorgeous and the way they combined some live action images with the artwork was amazing. It was also so awesome to learn about the woman who has basically preserved her life and story for future generations - Myriam, Rockness, and the fact that she has made it her life's work to get the artwork and the story of the LiliasT rotter before the public. I thank God for her and I'm so thankful to have had this gorgeous documentary made available so that more people can know. If you have seen this, please tell others, and if you haven't, watch it NOW!
