The Gorge was watchable. The acting was decent. I'm not very familiar with Miles Teller, but he did a decent job with this role. Anya Taylor-Joy was, as usually, delightful. Their chemistry was acceptable. The weakest part of the "acting" was the dialogue (not the actor's fault). The writing needed more work, especially after the story moved down into the Gorge. The plot was generic and dull and just stopped with no wrap up. In contrast, the music was good. I think the ending should have gone the other way; that would have fit better with the themes of the story. But overall The Gorge was watchable.
I had heard Sophie Thatcher was a talented actress. This was the first time I've seen her work and, yes, she is talented. Maybe I'll give Yellowjackets a try. This movie was decent by modern standards. Most of what comes out these days is poorly written garbage, but this one was decent. The characters were consistent and had some depth, the plot was not filled with holes (yes, I know filling something with holes doesn't make sense, but neither do most of the plots coming out of the modern "entertainment" industry). And the story was relevant if not a bit over used in recent years. My only complaint is I do not feel Iris' story is done. This is one of the occasions where I think a sequel is warranted. I'd like to see more of her story (and performance). What happens to her next? There are many options for another movie or a TV series. Just don't be cliché.
