Delhi Crime (2019)
Gripping
Shefali Shah, again, nails the role of DCP Vartika. She is at her best in Season 2 again. Her seamless switch between a serious cop and a caring mother is commendable. She is forced to make a decision, and chooses to back her ability to catch the real culprits. Rajesh Tailang, Rasika Dugal, and Anurag Arora all show Indian cinema is more than just a Bollywood glamour show. They play their roles to perfection. Tanuj Chopra directs season 2 really well. The unit's love for the streets of Delhi is evident through the series. Season 2 is a really good watch. The episodes are not too long, and on point every time. Worth binge watching.
Thar (2022)
Weak Plot
You keep waiting for something to happen, and nothing happens. Poor plot, poor story, predictable revenge, and poor acting except for Anil Kapoor. He does his best while others are poor around him. Harshvardhan Kapoor has a blank look throughout, and so is his acting, blank!
Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022)
Its all about Alia
At first you wonder whether Alia can do this role. This isn't her comfort zone. But she definitely delivers. The cute, girl next door role is traded for a mesmerising controlling role of Gangubai and she owns it. Excellent visual appeal, as you expect from a Sanjay Leela Bansali movie. The music is outstanding throughout. Dholida makes you fall in love with solo garba, and Alia's performance in that song is jaw dropping. Worth waiting for. Her final speech where she sits and delivers to an audience is Amtiabh Bachchan-esque. Ajay Devgan is brilliant albeit a cameo role. Worth a watch to see how well Alia delivers the Mafia Queen role!
Aranyak (2021)
Gripping Well made Series
Really well made and worth watching. Binged it over a weekend. A mega star of the 90s, Raveena now gives her best acting performance. Her acting throughout is excellent. Loved her every scene. Her accent, her confidence, her no nonsense attitude was played really well throughout. Parambrata and Ashutosh are also really good in their roles. Good direction by Vinay Waikul. The scenes in the police station seem so real. Well worth binging over!
Jai Bhim (2021)
Outstanding
Excellent movie. Don't miss it. Suriya plays Chandru brilliantly. You end up applauding his every move. Gritty, yet focused in his role. Lijo Mol also plays her character really well. You feel her pain throughout the movie. Only when justice is served you feel satisfaction. Outstanding direction, overacting at times by the extras in the movie, but the overall acting by main characters is really good. Note: watch the Tamil version rather than Hindi dubbed. The original language (with subtitles) delivers the true emotion in the voice of characters.
You (2018)
Boring season 3
Nothing new in season 3! Same suff, different season. Boring actually. Dragged on and on. It could have been so much better. Won't be watching any more seasons of You!
Thalaivi (2021)
Brilliant Kangana
Kangana Ranaut is simply brilliant. It is her acting that carries this movie through, which is otherwise yet another political power drama. She plays the roles excellently, from a younger aspiring actress, to her journey into a political leader. She is a true actress. Not many in Bollywood can boast her acting ability. Watch it for her acting!
Mumbai Diaries (2021)
Get ready to Binge
Gripping series. Well directed. The camera work is outstanding throughout the 8 episodes. Told from the perspective of Bombay General Hospital, and in particular from their Doctors point of view, Mohit Raina is really commendable. Shameless, gritty, and a through professional, he owns the role! The medical ethics wins above all in this series. Watching this series gave me an appreciation of their heroic roles in the horrible terror attacks in Mumbai. The series also gives an inside look on how media contributed to making the police's job difficult in getting the terror under control. Really good watch!
Clickbait (2021)
Good start, poor ending
Decent series. Good acting. Loved how they kept the family theming going through the series. Zoe and Betty are excellent throughout. 7 episodes fly by, till you get to the last and scratch your head. There were much better motives. Last episode is called "The Answer". I had more questions than answers watching the last episode.
Truth Be Told (2019)
Average
Good script. Aaron Paul was really good as was Lizzy Caplan. But Octavia Spencer just doesn't cut it as a lead actress from me in this series. Too predictable, no emotions, and her acting is no different from episode to episode. This could have been so much better!
The Family Man (2019)
Season 2 rocks!
Brilliant season 2! If you haven't come across Samantha Akkineni, it's a name you won't forget after season 2! The forever angry, hatred, and vengeful look will mesmerise you. Her stunts are second to none. Manoj Bajpai, again, outstandingly switches seamlessly between a family man and a patriot! He is at his usual best. Really made season 2. A must watch!
The Serpent (2021)
Gripping
Brilliant series. An insight into a notorious and sly conman. It's an absorbing series. Must watch! Tahar Rahim owns the character of Charles brilliantly. Billy Howle is exceptional as Knippenberg. Well directed, well acted, well made series. Highly recommended.
The Mosquito Coast (2021)
Action packed
Fast, action packed. Looks good after the first 2 episodes.
Them (2021)
Intense
Hope you have the stomach for this series. Some genuinely spine chilling scenes. Torture becomes the theme very quickly. Little too far fetched with racism I thought, but for all I know, it could have been as bad in reality when African Americans initially moved into white neighbourhoods. Characters played out really well. Some really good acting throughout. THE scene regarding Chester was hard to watch. You feel like getting inside your TV and doing something about it!!! Recommend watch!
