  • "Fear Street Part One: 1994" Review, Fighting the Terror of the Scary and Thrilling Shadyside City

The first minutes of this film are immediately opened with a tense atmosphere. Opened with terror in a mall that attacks a bookstore employee, the audience seems to have been given a guarantee that this film will provide a scary experience.

Even at the beginning of the film, viewers who haven't read the novel may feel a little surprised by the mysterious figure chasing the employee. The description of the atmosphere, starting from the musical score to the small details presented successfully made the audience feel tense.

From what I have seen so far, almost a number of Netflix original films have started to dare to raise LGBT issues. For the author himself, it feels quite disturbing. Viewers who are not used to watching this themed film may feel a little disturbed. Fortunately, this film focuses more on horror and thriller nuances than romance.

In this first series, it appears dominantly and becomes the main premise of a story that is quite bold by putting forward the two main protagonists of a lesbian couple. But in practice, the sexual elements in the first series are still quite shy, and almost their relationship is explained through a dialogue. Fortunately, the romance portion is presented sufficiently without looking too much. This is what made the writer decide to continue this film.

In addition, like American teen films in general, the language and words presented tend to be dirty and rude. This film is indeed intended for teenage and adult audiences, compared to "Goosebumps" which can still be watched by children.

The three killers carried out their actions with sadistic and totality. So that the teenagers who try to fight it also have difficulty, even many have become victims. How their costumes, voices, and movements succeeded in making the audience feel the creepy atmosphere in the film.

Yes! This horror thriller film is a film that relies on a fairly dominating musical score. Almost in every spooky scene and when the ghost comes, it is always given tense music. So the atmosphere in this film feels less natural.

In addition, the soundtracks of 90s songs also make this film more colorful.

Unfortunately, although the thriller and horror elements are quite good in this film, there are still aspects that make this film feel unsatisfactory. One of them is the characters in the film. All the characters in this film seem to just be "victims" of murder and the audience will not feel sympathy for the players.

In fact, if this film lengthens its duration a little and makes a little flashback or deepens the characterization of the characters, the audience will definitely feel emotional. Like conjuring films or other western horror films.

The cinematography presented in this film tends to be dark. The depiction and set up of the 90s location actually looks not very realistic. Some of the highlighted spots look too modern for the 90s.

Overall, "Fear Street Part One: 1994" is quite qualified to be a summer rollercoaster thriller that is suitable and enjoyable as a spectacle for entertainment, without requiring us to involve excessive reasoning.

"Fear Street Part One: 1994" managed to open the parade of Netflix's horror trilogy quite well. Scary and suspenseful but less satisfying for Horror movie lovers. Hopefully part 2 of this film can be better in terms of storytelling and horror aspects.

  • Learn to Know Health and Mental Illness through the Korean Drama "Fix You"

This drama brings the theme of a psychiatrist's life in curing his patients. There are various kinds of mental illness presented in this drama, such as borderline personality disorder, excessive hallucinations, alcoholism, and even pornography addicts.

With a duration of about 30 minutes per episode, this drama successfully brings the issue of mental health neatly and accompanied by complete information. So, we as viewers will know various mental illnesses that we may not know about at this time.

This theme was also taken by "It's Okay to Not Be Okay". However, in my opinion, this drama is more clear in raising the issue of mental health than the drama "It's Okay To Be Not Oka"y.

If the IOTBNO drama focuses too much on the love between Ko Mun Yoong and Moon Gang Tae, and only focuses on autism. Meanwhile, in the drama "Fix You", even though there is romance, it is not conveyed excessively and does not make the themes raised just disappear.

Watching the first episode alone made me cry. The first and second episodes tell about Cha Dong II who dreams of becoming a police officer and he always fails the test.

Due to his excessive desire to become a police officer, he takes other people's police uniforms and wears them for patrolling even though he is not registered with the police.

However, the doctor, Lee Shi Joon, was able to heal him in a unique way and deserves much appreciation as a doctor.

He is able to make his patients as friends, and make his patients comfortable when talking with him.

The same plot, how he heals patients and heals his own trauma, is delivered consistently until the final episode. Although it decreased slightly in episodes 20-25, in episodes 26-30 it was again consistent with the plot that was presented from the start. The script is carefully crafted so as to make this drama memorable for the audience.

In this drama, various mental illnesses, ranging from minor ones such as stress to major symptoms, are presented well and are not exaggerated. The audience seemed to be invited to get to know the various kinds of mental illnesses that exist.

The plus in this drama is that when the doctor mentions the name of the disease, he is also given a brief but clear explanation to tell what disease his patients are facing.

This makes the audience no longer need to wonder and can enjoy the drama in peace.

This drama also raises the romance genre where a psychiatrist falls in love with his own patient.

The portion of the romance scene, how when they started and went through a relationship, was very fitting and very mature. Unlike the love in the drama "True Beauty" which is full of love triangles, the drama "Fix You" actually shows that simple and mature love can be an interesting story to pick up.

In this drama, even though they are dating, they can still focus on their respective careers. When someone fell or was sad, they supported and comforted each other. Simple but meaningful.

The acting of the players here, especially the acting of the players who act as patients is very commendable.

How he deepens the patient's character, makes me also get carried away in the drama. Almost every episode I cried, and the story changed my mindset.

At first, I thought mental illness was only experienced by certain people. But in this drama, I finally understood that we can all get mental illness. We just haven't been diagnosed yet, so we don't know what disease is inside us.

Often, people who come to a psychiatrist or are admitted to a psychiatric hospital are labeled as "crazy people." In fact, not all those being treated are insane, in fact most of the patients are normal people like us.

The problem lies in the mental and heart, many people who look fine even though they have various problems in their hearts.

This drama also teaches how we can heal the mental illness that exists within ourselves. As doctor Lee Shi Joon, one of the main characters in the drama "Fix You" said:

"Each of our wounds will become a map for our lives. So instead of trying to heal the wound, how about you try to accept it? Because our wounds are like GPS, which gives us the right direction in our lives."

This drama is very suitable to watch, especially for those of you who are sad or have a lot of problems. By watching this drama, you will feel like you are counseling with a psychiatrist.

This drama is also suitable to watch with family and friends. So, for those of you who need a soothing spectacle when you are sad, you must watch this drama!

  • "High-Rise Invasion" Anime Review, Trapped in a World Full of Masked Assassins

High-Rise Invasion has an interesting premise and a very strong start, full of mystery and suspense.

This anime series opens with a slick but slightly tiring story. How he builds a tension in the series, but ends up bland. The audience was not given an idea why Yuri could enter that world. Fortunately, this is only in the first episode.

The second episode onwards, this series starts to get more interesting. Moreover, when Yuri met Mayuko, the writer could feel the build up of Yuri's character and how Mayuko's character changes, who previously only cared about herself to care about others.

The supporting characters also make the atmosphere in this series even more exciting. Moreover, each character has a different power. Like, Yuri who was good at shooting, Mayuko was good at using knives, and Kuon who could shoot railguns through tall buildings. Many other characters are the main attraction in this film. So that the audience can feel a strong solidarity among the existing characters.

The masked humans in this series are also unique and diverse. There are four categories of masks, ranging from angry, smiling, flat, and expressionless masks. Each has its own advantages. Each mask character from episode to episode is shown in stages and has a different level, so the audience will not be bored with the action of the masks.

Even though they are evil, masked humans still have a human side and still have human traits and skills in general. The difference is, human skills are used as a sadistic way to fight their enemies. Such as volleyball masks, swimmer masks, chef masks, and others that attack humans with their respective skills.

Not all masks in this series are evil. There are some masks that don't attack, like the flat-faced masks. Also the mask is broken, which will allow the human who wears it to remember who he is and can get the mask's power without being evil.

The background of the place shown focuses on the roof of the building and inside the building. I don't know what the cause is, none of the characters here go downstairs or onto the highway. It was as if there were no stairs in the building. They have to cross a rocking bridge to move from one building to another.

The strange world they entered was also very similar to the real world. There is rain, heat, food, and more. There is no stark difference between the worlds.

This series becomes even more interesting with the emergence of the term "God Candidate" where later, people who become god candidates and succeed in becoming gods will be able to come out and destroy the world. The antagonist character that we thought from the start is a mask, turns out to be an ordinary human who feels superior and wants to dominate everything.

The fight scene at the end is also very satisfying. The intense tension coupled with the anime effect that is not stiff makes the audience feel nervous when watching it.

However, this series is not without flaws. Many scenes that may not need to be highlighted. At the end when the fight scene is over, it feels too rushed, so it still raises various questions in the minds of the audience.

This series shows that with courage and togetherness, we can face the various challenges that exist. By strengthening each other, we will be able to develop ourselves into better people.

This anime indirectly describes the world today which is filled with ambition to achieve the highest power. Many people use humans as masks to gain power. But behind that, there are still people who fight for the truth and uphold justice.

The author feels, "High-Rise Invasion" is not suitable for those of you who don't like sadistic scenes to watch. Every murder scene that is shown is really clear and will probably make some viewers feel scared because of it.

Overall, the author himself hasn't watched anime this much fun for a long time. With a theme similar to the series "Alice in Borderland", coupled with sadistic scenes as well as various characters, and various masks, you will feel the tension in every episode.

The author highly recommends this anime series, especially for those of you who like anime with short episodes.

You can watch "High-Rise Invasion" on Netflix. The series has 12 episodes and is 25 minutes long in each episode. Suitable for those of you who are looking for an exciting spectacle in their spare time.

Will this series continue into season 2? I don't know, there has been no confirmation from Netflix itself. Looking at the ending, the author himself hopes that there will be a season 2, because there are still many things that can be explored more deeply in this anime series.
