  • Great actors but a tech mess up.

There are some really great actors in this cast, and there are some very important themes and a few very good scenes, but I'm sorry to say it but this was a directorial and tech mess.

The worst of it is the soundtrack which far too often detracts from some decent acting - and also too many scenes are repetitious instead of moving the narrative onwards. The final scenes were also flat and vague where they should have led to a decent conclusion. I'm sure the actors did their best, and in the end I felt very sorry for them, as they had all the talent to give, but this series would have been much better in a tighter 16 or 20 episode format with decent sound and story editing!

  • Immaculate acting in a stylish & tense drama

I've just finished watching this engrossing award winning drama - it was too intense to binge, but is definitely worth watching for the immaculate performances of. Kim Nam-joo &Ji Jin-hee with Jeon Hye-jin and excellent overall casting and suspenseful storyline. Without giving away too much, my main conclusion, which wasn't really mentioned in the script, is the impact that predatory men can have on the lives of women and how we have to manage around that - and of course the lives of other men can be badly affected too. The themes of motivation, communication & emotional distance are constantly highlighted in a variety of intricate ways - via personal relationships, family status and wider communication through the media. Nothing about this is light hearted, but the main characters are unforgettable.

  • Was the writing team hijacked ??!

Kdramas of all genres have been a real discovery and go-to for through many very tough months - with a huge raft of talent in front of and behind the camera - and this one seemed to be light hearted and funny and very much in the spirit of a romcom which is what I was looking for this week. This has a really brilliant cast and a lovely setting, and gt design and camerawork, with some great quirky elements - however, I think the final episodes must have found the writing team either on too much soju or biffed out by a producer wanting even more ridiculous plot twists. Goodness knows how the actors felt about it. I work in the medical field ( also spotted the dislocated joint before the screen doc did!) so from a few symptoms dropped in here and there I could see that something was brewing in terms of a health storyline, so it clearly wasn't an add on, but the final decisions which people were made to take were not only counter to their character - and additionally spinning it over a final period of 5 years is just bizarre. It literally makes no sense in terms of the characters which had been drawn. Unreal plot twists were introduced while realistic opportunities were missed. Ideas were introduced but not used and the final scene has RaRa responding in such a way as to be completely unbelievable. The finale really is a shocking waste of talent and almost makes me regret investing time in watching it - which is a real shame and not the way I want to remember an otherwise charming show with truly touching music scenes.
