Julie Mackenzie's Miss Marple is simply perfect, by far and more enjoyable and "proper" than that by McEwan.
McEwan's Marple is a disappointing and unprobable mix of plain silliness and sharp intelligence. Her way of playing Marple is good for a vaudeville, but Christie's novels are not meant for that.
In contrast, Mackenzie is playing Marple in a much more realistic way, with a proper amount of (natural) humor. Her Marple is an (seemingly) ordinary woman, without any pretension, acting in a discreet and powerful way.
This is a hugely positive change for the series - Mackenzie is simply brilliant!

The actress of lead role was sublime in it - one of the most beautiful and touching female performances in film. She died today at 93 and was the preferred actress of Has.
