I honestly expected something like Mahaan, but Retro turned out to be more like another version of Jagame Thandhiram, but the film had crazy potential to be much better.
Suriya and Pooja Hegde delivered amazing performances, and their chemistry worked really well on screen. The music, cinematography, and casting were all solid. However, I didn't enjoy the last 45 minutes, the entire island sequence felt artificial and unrealistic.
I really hope Suriya gets another strong comeback film. Retro is another decent outing from Karthik Subbaraj, but definitely not his best. Overall, it's a one-time watchable entertainer. The general audience might find it slow or boring.
Rating: 6/10.

The film tries something similar to Mark Antony, but doesn't quite reach that level. Still, it's a watchable entertainer. The plot is weak, relying heavily on elevation scenes to keep the audience hooked. I'm not sure how well it will connect with the general audience, but it will definitely appeal to Ajith fans.
The music was good, though the songs could've been better. Visually, the film looked decent, but I expected more. Overall, it's strictly a fan-service film, general viewers might find it unrealistic. One standout was Arjun Das, who gave a solid performance.
I hope Ajith gets a film like Jailer with quality and good elevation with better screenplay and making, GBU just feels very artificial.

Thug Life was a complete misfire. The film had so much potential but went completely wrong. The first half was actually amazing, but the second half was a disaster. There was no solid writing at all, everything was just unbelievably predictable. The background score and songs by A. R. Rahman were okay, except for "Anju Vanna Poove," which stood out. Please avoid giving Kamal Haasan long hair, it looked funny, similar to his look in Indian 2. Overall, it's a one-time watchable, average entertainer that could have been so much better. Sadly, Thug Life now joins the family of Anjaan and Vivegam.....
