The Iron Claw is a masterpiece - a full-blown tragedy told with tenderness, yet also with brutal honesty and cruelty. The fact that it's based on a true story makes it all the more powerful and heartbreaking. It reveals how much more there is to sports than meets the eye: more soul, more suffering, more silent pain. The film captures all of this with incredible emotional depth, and the performances are nothing short of outstanding. Each actor brings raw vulnerability to their role, making every moment hit harder. It's a devastating, beautifully crafted film that leaves a lasting mark.
A Shot in the Dark is an acceptable and at times genuinely funny film, but it definitely shows its age. The comedy feels very classic - and not always in a good way. Compared to other films in the same genre, it struggles to renew itself or stay consistently engaging. Some scenes are hilarious, but the film moves in fits and starts, never quite holding the viewer's attention from start to finish. That inconsistency really hurts the overall experience. It has charm and a few standout moments, but as a whole, it lacks the spark needed to keep it memorable. Still enjoyable, but far from timeless.
