I had been wanting to watch it for a while, and I finally did in '25. Two questions - does the meaning of life lie in external validation, or in simply experiencing life? Two friends suddenly find themselves on different places in life, existentially. Where do they find resolution ? Perhaps not in their relationship, but in individual self actualisation, like Colm? Or in passionate relating, like Padraic? Eventually, Colm essentially self sabotages himself from moving on. As does, Padraic, from moving closer, because his revenge for an accidental loss was extreme. I think,in the end, Colm has his space, and Padraic his relationship, but in a newer, more serious dynamic.
To paraphrase - "some things cannot be moved on from. And it's a good thing" I do wish people held more space for each other, and for themselves.
