  • An Awful Excuse for a Romantic Christmas Movie

Let me start this review by saying that I love cheesy Christmas movies. I really do. This one, however, sucked. It sucked so so much.

Every character is awful. Each and every one of them. Holly pushes her opinions and plans on everyone else and gets upset when they don't want exactly what she wants. Chris is moody and kinda mean. Spencer is just annoying and speaks as though he's never heard a real person speak. Angela waited until the night before her wedding to finally blow up about what she wanted for that day.

I like having unlikable characters in movies because they make the film feel more real, but the two main characters simply can't be awful. If you want me to care about what happens at the end, the people have to be decent at the very least.

I'm writing this review with 20 minutes left in the movie because there's absolutely nothing that could make this movie decent.

  • Not Bad, but Not Great Either...

This wasn't a bad episode but it definitely wasn't best either. If I thought that the double-date with Ashley and Chris was awkward, that was nothing compared to the beginning of Lucy and Tim's first date.

I don't love the direction the Chenford relationship is going in. I didn't expect them to get together in the way they did (him asking her out like a normal person lol); I thought it'd be more dramatic. The way it's progressing is really sweet, but just not the way I expected.

    Best part of the episode?

    • The contrast between Bradford's method and Nolan's of asking Juarez and Thorsen if they were dating. Thorsen's reaction and his spiel about the inappropriateness of the relationship if he was her superior office. That was hilarious.

    Worst part of the episode?

    • The bank robbery case wasn't very creative nor interesting. It was a nice touch that they couldn't identify all of the robbery suspects, but the way it was executed wasn't riveting.

  • This episode was worth waiting a month for.

Let me first just say that I hated the other episodes that were filmed using cellphone cams, dash cams and security cameras only, but I loved this one. A lot. Something about this episode felt different to those ones but also different to a regular episode (in a good way). This episode was so good that I - a Chenford stan from the first episode - didn't think that their scene was the best part of the episode. Don't get me wrong - it had me cheesing like a love-sick idiot, but the case of the week was so captivating that if that scene at the end wasn't there, the rating wouldn't have gone down for me.

Also, the fact that Celina is staying at Nolan and Bailey's house is a bit weird, but I think it was a necessary storyline for us to fall in love with her character. I'm really loving the Nolan-Juarez relationship. They work together exceptionally well.

    Best parts of the episode?

    • The case this week was captivating. From the reveal of the first bombing victim to the reveal that there was a second, to seeing everyone work on one case together (which doesn't happen too often), it was remarkable.

    • The Chenford scene, of course. I wanted the Tim-Lucy tension to build more before they got together (maybe at the end of season 5) but I'm not going to complain at them getting together within the next few weeks. It was also beautifully filmed. After all of the dash cams, I almost forgot how much I love the usual visuals of The Rookie.

    Worst part of the episode?

    • I can't really think of a bad part of this episode. It was incredible.
