This is nothing more than a sad attempt at emptying the pockets of Beetlejuice fans. This updated sequel suffers from gross inconsistencies in story and creativity. Why are weird add-on characters (Delores, Wolf) given so much screen and story time? You have one of the funniest and best written films ever made in the original Beetlejuice from 1988 and there is no need to re-engineer it. I literally turned it off during the wedding scene, only to go back and re-watch the entire film the next day. The wedding represents this film in a nutshell: pointless, tone deaf, overly long and stupid. Of the original cast that showed up, I did enjoy Keaton and O'Hara and found them as funny as ever although Winona Ryder was off her game.
Call it what you will, a reboot, a re-imagining, or a sequel, I call it a plain old-fashioned bad idea from the start. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has no soul and it's not funny.
