This is a VERY low-bar show. It's not funny.
If it's "filmed in front of a live studio audience" why does it sound like a laugh track is HEAVILY used?? Did the live audience never laugh (not surprising) so they had to add a laugh track in post? I guess "filmed in front of" doesn't mean anyone actually laughed. I mean watching this, why would they?
.. and throw in as many recognizable faces as possible.. and it all seems like a "favor" being done for Morgan, who is CLEARLY reaching here and is apparent.
Then the mindset of "let's peach some morals in EVERY episode while we're at it".. and wow is it just BAD, terribly BAD.
This reminded me of late 70s "urban" sitcoms I saw when I was very young, where they FORCED the same old, tired, jokes. Honestly reminded me of Sandford and Son, in "tone" not premise, and Morgan is getting more and more like Red Foxx in his later years - only devoid of any humor. I'm just waiting for him to start clutching his chest and faking a heart attack and yelling at his dead wife (yup the wife in this is dead) that he's coming. (yeah OLD reference.)
This is horrible, not the least bit funny, and unrealistic. I, personally detest "sitcoms" that try and "preach" to viewers.

There's a reason Greg Nicotero has always been BEHIND the camera. He does excellent work OFF SCREEN. I don't think Nicotero is geared, nor has the personality, to be an on-screen host. He's not good at it. Perhaps if he took his appearance more seriously that may have helped. A 60 year old balding, long-haired man means one of 2 things -- you are either unhoused/homeless/housing challenged (whatever), or have so much money that you don't care. This series suffers greatly form Nicotero doing EVERYTHING in a very narcissistic manner. It needed another person to tell Greg "that's not good for a competition show, it needs to change".
So, as expected, most of the special effects in this are pretty great - I mean that's what Nicotero is known for. Any work he's done behind the scenes as a producer/director for The Walking Dead I write off. That series, and all its spinoffs, haven't been good for a decade (its truly a zombie show).
As a "competition" show this is really lacking any drive to discover what's next. By episode 4 it's become more about the effects than the actual "game show". I don't really care, nor am I interested in, these "contestants". They either come across as just plain weird, or they are plants that can't act very well. Some of the phrasing the "contestants" use in the "interviews" just sound scripted... real people in real settings just don't use the same vocabulary on display here. The contestants seem disingenuous at every turn.
So, one could easily just skip this series. It's not vey engaging or compelling.
But if you want to see some decent special effects in a more "realistic" (or pseudo realistic) setting, they can be interesting. But none of the people on screen are really likable or engaging.

So. I watched the UK version first, which aired a few months before this US version showed up.
While watching the UK version I thought the two hosts were superfluous, unnecessary, and generally overly cringe-worthy... then I saw the US version with Ken an Erin and I was completely wrong.. the UK hosts were doing an adequate job.. Ken and Erin don't belong anywhere near this show.
Fun drinking game....take a shot every time Ken Jeong says/shouts/yells "Oh My God". You'll be on the floor vomiting by the end of every episode.
And Erin.. why is a football commentator even considered for a game show?? Guess they couldn't find anyone else. She's vanilla.. no personality and then throws in the ODD, out of place, football references. Does she not know she's not watching football, or anything even remotely close to football??
There is ZERO chemistry between Ken and Erin.. none. It's readily apparent.
The show COULD be good if they sped it up a bit and got rid of all the "human interest" attempts. Why would anyone care about some random 100 people? Of COURSE they all want or need the money. The interest in the show is the games and how bad or silly players try to complete things..... the players are merely necessary cogs - there's little need to focus on them as if they were celebrities
----- Meh... I watch for the games and will see it through to the end.. but they REALLY need to replace the hosts if this gets renewed.
Typical US remake.. follow the format, but mess it up entirely by poorly casting the wrong people.
