I felt insulted watching this. I mean, come on, THIS is what they felt was worthy of an audience?
The writing in this is absolutely atrocious and VERY cliché in plot. There is nothing of real interest. And Sonja herself is a portrayed as a "tender fawn" for much of the film - really overly demure in personality. Sure she gets angry and fights.. but she never comes across as a "warrior" in any sense.
As bad as the 80s Bridgette Neilson Red Sonja was.. it was MILES ahead of this film.

Seems this iteration took all the cheeseball writing of the "failing era" of Superman comic writing and included that...
The dog... the stupid dog. Krypto the Kryptonian dog from Krypton. Stupid in name, stupid in concept, stupid in the writing.. and this film starts at that point.
Anyone who ever had any relation to the comics, in a very broad scope, will know that there was a period where the writing just got dumb.. designed for kids in the 80s and written at a 3rd grade level. I knew this, even though I never actually read the comics. The dog is a HUGE indicator of just how moronic the writing can get.
Why anyone would make a movie based on the less-than-stellar era of Superman writing is a mystery to me.
Given the above there are a few bright spots.. the Lois/Clarke relationship being more realistic was good. And, as is always true for studio films now, the special effects are fantastic. But I don't think those two aspects make this a worthwhile venture.
Perhaps watch if its free, but don't bother spending 2¢ on it.

I had a hard time getting engaged with this film.
There are way too many "main" characters. And the portrayal fo any "role" is perhaps explained in 30 seconds, once.. it's VERY easy to lose track of individual character motivations. And there's A LOT, A LOT of dialog. The story is rather simple at face value - smuggle drugs from Canada... but it comes across as a convoluted mess which is hard to follow as a story.
This, to me, is far more a "scene" film - where some scenes may be interesting and perhaps a little humorous, but as a whole it *felt* like it was all dialog with VERY little actual activity scenes. I didn't keep an eye on any clock, but it seemed like 20 minutes of dialog from myriad different characters, followed by 3 minutes of activity.. then back to dialog.
Meh.. this film just couldn't hold my interested, and due to that, I didn't find it funny either.
