It's not every day you see a cartoon that exceeds your expectations as much as this one does. Jentry Chau is one of the best shows I've seen in a while, and it deserves more attention. Everything about it is excellent, from the killer soundtrack to the stylistic animation to the engaging characters to the extremely well-developed lore. And although it's aimed toward teens, it's a show people of all ages can enjoy.
Jentry Chau is a teen girl who has to deal with the drama of high school while fighting off demons trying to kill her for her powers. She's helped by her great-aunt, a powerful Daoist priestess, and a shape-shifting demon. But the coolness of the premise doesn't stop there. Jentry not only defeats ghosts and demons, but she also uncovers the mystery of her parents' deaths and explores stunning yet terrifying new realms. The show does an amazing job at balancing the plot with the world-building, introducing new conflicts and new settings with each episode.
Please give Jentry Chau a chance. Netflix has a nasty habit of cancelling great shows before they have a chance to reach their full potential, and the only way to keep that from happening is showing your support for the show. If you're a fan of fantasy, coming-of-age stories, or Chinese mythology, Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld is definitely worth your time.

Of course, haters are gonna review bomb because they can't stand to watch a show without a white protagonist. Don't listen to them. This show had me hooked through all six episodes. I know what you're thinking: the concept of superheroes escaping people who want to use them for their powers has been done before. Regardless, this series managed to defy my expectations at every twist and turn. Every character is unique and interesting in their own way, and watching their stories slowly intertwine is super satisfying. It gets you invested in the characters, even the minor ones, so that each episode you're crossing your fingers and hoping they make it out alive. And thanks to the short length of the season, there's not an ounce of filler! Every scene advances the story or introduces a new twist that keeps the plot exciting.
If I had to give one complaint, it was that the miscommunication plotline between Michael and Dionne went on way too long, to the point where it became frustrating. But that didn't keep me from enjoying all the action, drama, and the high stakes that kept me glued to the screen. Please give this show a watch so that it gets more seasons!

Shugo Chara is absolutely one of my favorite animes. It is ten times funnier, cuter, and more energetic than any other kids show I've ever seen. The characters are all super fun and entertaining, and they have such great chemistry with each other that I can't help but smile when I see them on screen. Watching them overcome their personal battles over the course of the series has truly touched my heart. And the transformations (which are the hallmark of any magical girl anime) are also really colorful and creative.
If no one else is going to say it, I will: Shugo Chara is immensely underrated. I highly recommend it to fans of magical girl and children's anime, or anyone who wants to watch a show with their little siblings :)
