In Hindi, Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgn & Ayushmann Khurrana are the handful of actors whose theatrical releases I watch in the nearest cinemas. As both Lal Singh Chadha and Raksha Bandhan released on the same day. I preferred to watch the latter as I was doubtful if the would be remain in the cinemas for my weekly dosage of film in the nearest theatre.
The story is about the protagonist giving an oath to his mother, that he would marry only after marrying off his four sisters. Rest of the film shows if the protagonist is able to fulfil his promise or not albeit the sacrifices that he makes on the personal front.
One of the positive aspect of the film in terms of storytelling was it was not stretched unnecessarily, unlike the films of similar genre, and the length of the movie avoided a tedious experience for the viewer, but the grievance would be that all the funny sequences of the film were already shown in the trailer, which killed the excitement for a viewer. Regarding the direction I wouldn't comment much as I haven't seen the previous films directed by the director. Yet one ought to commend for keeping the story-telling precise.
In terms of performance, Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar, Neeraj Sood were the highlight of the film. The only grievance would be the enacted by Bhumi and Sood were similar to the one seen in Subh Mangal Savdhan. While the supporting role played by the four sisters were praiseworthy.
In comparison to the previous films like Bachchan Pandey or Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan was quiet a decent outing for Akshay Kumar. It would be interesting if the same momentum is kept for the future films.

I had been eagerly waiting for the film's release ever since the trailer of the film got released.
Seeing the mixed reviews and review vlogs made me a bit hesitant, but as it was action film I decided to shrug those reviews as reviews on these films are never to be taken seriously.
The film is about a reformed assassin given the task of robbing a brief case from a bullet train set for Kyoto. The rest of the film showcases numerous miscommunication that is albeit shown in a rib-tickling manner.
In terms of technical aspects, the writing is definitely not to be taken seriously but the action sequences showcased in the would keep a viewer entertained till the very end.
In terms of performance, apart from Brad Pitt, the duo of Aaron Taylor Johnson & Brian Tyree Henry were highlights of the. The former excelled in the action sequences while latter was witty with his one liners and his reference to Thomas Tank Engine. The audience would be surprised to see two cameo's featured in the film. One may have been as a gift for appearing in Lost City while the other one must have been kept for the sequel.
Would be exciting if a sequel for this movie is made.

I was very much hesitant to watch this film as the last film that I saw of both the director(veteran Joshiy) and the principal protagonist(Suresh Gopi) were disasters in every possible way.
For the former, the last film that I saw was Laila O Laila, which was nothing but a horrendous rehash of True Lies, and for the latter, the last film that is saw was another horrendous venture, King and Commissioner, which was just a vehicle to cash on the past glory.
As there weren't any likable option for my weekly does of cinema in the nearest theatre, I opted to watch this film sans any expectation.
The film is about a female cop investigating series of murders which are somehow linked with each other. To ensure that the case is solved, her senior unofficially appoints a former cop, who happens to be her father and with whom she shares an uneasy relation. The rest of the film shows how the cop solves the case with the help of her father.
As it involves the usual tropes of investigative film, a admirer of such films would enjoy the film till the very end. The technical aspects of the film was laudable except for the climax and dialogue delivery of the lead actress which were shoddy in nature.
The veteran director, Joshiy, should be praised for keeping himself relevant with films like Pappan. One wonders as to how the director is able to keep himself relevant even after being written off and being in the industry for decades(only other exception is Sathyan Anthikkad).
In terms of performance, apart from Suresh Gopi (praise should be showered for portraying age related roles unlike his peers) among the supporting actors comprising of Shammi Thilakan, Vijayraghavan and Ajmal enacted their parts well. Except for his scenes with his father, Gokul Suresh was at the most inconsequential.
It would be interesting to see if both the director and the lead actor keep themselves relevant with such ventures for the future.
