People who give this movie bad reviews because it is campy, ironic, makes fun of itself, has ridiculous dialogue and a thin plot line obviously don't get the fact that all of these were intentional. This is the kind of movie you make when you've had a highly successful career and you just want to have fun making a movie without worrying about critics or box office or Award nominations or anything like that. When you get big stars like Adam driver, Bill murray, Steve buscemi, and Danny Glover, all well known and highly successful actors who certainly weren't doing this project to make a name for themselves or two increase their Hollywood cred, you know it's going to be a good movie not in spite of, but because of, its stupidity. I give it 10 out of 10 because it delivers exactly what the director probably intended. A silly satire of zombie movies with some pretty big stars (Iggy Pop as a zombie? Yessir!). Looks like they all had a lot of fun making this movie and good for them!
If you were a fan of Mayor of Kingstown, you will like this show as well. Even the opening credits are similar in style and cinematography, guess that's a Taylor Sheridan trademark. Billy Bob Thornton delivers his grizzled, snarky, no nonsense lines with typical Billy Bob Thornton sarcasm. There's one scene in one of the first few episodes where Thornton's character gives a long speech about the necessity of petroleum in every area of our lives, which definitely sounds like propaganda written into the script the oil industry, but none of what he says is untrue. Kind of funny that the first few episodes are sponsored by the American petroleum Institute and feature ads showing oil and petroleum workers. Overall I think this is going to be a great show, the writing is great, the acting is great, and the characters are very human.
