So... you are telling me that the author of a master piece like Past Lives is also the author of this cheesy train of cliches and stereotypes? I mean, I get that the title itself indicates that it's about materialistic people but where is the counterpart? Where is the reflection about the social problem? It's just the typical western traditional romantic fairy tale. Such a disapointment.
My review: 9/10. I was pleasantly surprised by the story and the quality of the production.
I was sincerely expecting just a steamy romance simple story but I ended mesmerized by the well done script and its depth. We encounter complex people facing the dualities of moral, spiritual and professional spheres. You know... like in real life. We encounter real people struggling with persecution, prejudice and... love.
The performances of the actors are just spectacular. Again... it's like watching real people with real problems but in a tv show. The fact that they casted real gay actors is a plus that definitely added greatness.
Standing applause for costume design, make up and hair design and cinematography.
Political topics, social criticism, human complexities and of course sex. This series has it all.
