I don't write reviews unless a movie is underrated enough; so here we go!
The movie, honestly gave the book (novel) justice. I've been reading books written by Chetan Bhagat since I could remember and haven't missed a single one yet. Though his books doesn't make it into the "What a great read!" category, they always have this feeling of belongingness that I bet even the majority of his critics too would agree. The novel 'Half Girlfriend' despite all the unnecessary drags and stuff still made into that 'belongingness' list. But I always felt like 'this story could have been even enjoyable', so why not give the movie adaptation a watch despite my hate for novel adaptations.
But I procrastinate a lot so it took me 5 years since the movie release to finally give the movie a try.
And the experience was just not a revision of the literature, this movie genuinly made my day (night actually). I personally loved everything about the characters, cast, music (ok not really) and ofcourse the story adaptation; it didn't miss a single prominent scene from the novel, yet kept the watchtime a decent ~2 hours.
This obviously won't even be the best bollywood movie you'd be watching but this does stand out when put among the average romantic bollywood movies with basically nothing sort of a storyline that's not cliché.
Before hitting 'submit' though, I would like to mention that (incase it wasn't obvious), stuff written above is my personal opinion about the movie. (BUT THIS MOVIE STILL DESERVES MORE THAN AN AVG 4.5/10 RATING). So if you like it, don't refrain from writing atleast a short review and rating.

Imma not write an essay, but lemme justify the 8/10... This movie would definitely make your boring repetitive life quite enjoyable for the entire runtime except for a few mins of lame jokes in between.... That said, this one makes you laugh like anything... Plus the plot, though bit cliché, does succeed to entertain you.
