I was excited for this, it looked like an absolute blast from start to finish. So when I saw it, I really enjoyed it! At the very end. Everything else I completely forgot. Meg 2 (should be called Meh 2) delivered at the very end as the film tests your patience with terrible writing, characters we don't care for, and action that while fun, is all shown in the trailers. If you watched the trailers, you saw the entire 3rd act. Granted there's fun moments but instead of making a splash, it took a bite out of me. If your gonna watch a shark movie besides jaws, just watch the shallows or deep blue sea.
Now listen, JAWS is my favorite film of all time, from story telling to characters to its horror, it's a perfect film and there's nothing I would change about it, loved it as a kid and love it more now that I'm older. So you might think I agree with everyone that the sequels suck in comparison to the original, while yes but there's one I always thought was not as bad as people say. JAWS 2 I think is a good movie, is it JAWS 1? No of course not but by no means is this a bad film because I enjoy this film. I love the look of the shark with the burnt face, it gives it a more menacing look. Roy Schindler gives another amazing performance with what he's giving, and I don't mind the whole slasher aspect added. But the thing this movie does suffer from is that they show the shark a lot more, which is kinda a big deal because the original film didn't show the shark until nearly the end of the film so they improvised it by using underwater POV's. And yes you can argue that the reason they did that is because the shark did not work on set for the first film and the second film had no issues with their mechanical shark, while that's true it still left an impact on us from not knowing what we see underwater, JAWS 2 could've continue to feed off that fear but instead the shark just appears and we fully see it. Also it's definitely more cheesy then the originals while JAWS 1 felt like a horror thriller, JAWS 2 feels like an action adventure movie which isn't a big problem at all because it's definitely an entertaining watch. So if your a big fan of the original jaws and haven't seen any of the sequels just skip 3 and 4 because those films are something else and just watch this movie.
