As with Interview with the Vampire, which is slightly better than this travesty, the cast of The Mayfair Witches is dreadful.
One thinks. Perhaps, all the money was spent on the script rights leaving only coins for the cast budget. I got 1/2 way thru S1E1 and that was all I could manage. I was tired and bored already.
Not only is the crew, from what I see, mostly new and unknown actors, I mean this might be okay as there are future stars in the making out there, but unfortunately this cast is not made up of future stars. They are stiff and dreadful at acint!
On the positive side, ff you run out of ativan, fear not, this will put you to sleep in quick time.

I am a great fan of period drama and I loved the original Bridgerton story with Regé-Jean Page. I had a feeling that without Regé - whose story seemed to largely end in the initial series - the franchise would suffer. Sadly, this turns out to be the case. I give a shout out to Brimsley which is a well-acted character. King George is not badly acted however, I keep having visions of Mission Impossible running through my mind as Mylchreest seems a ringer for a young Cruise. Queen Charlotte is not a role I especially relate to or even accept - cannot really itemize why the actor just doesn't work for me in the role as the young Charlotte.
Much as I loved season 1 and love period dramas in general, this one is only worthy of a 3 rating for me and most of that for scenery and costuming and a star for Brimsley.

A lot of the Netflix shows offered in Canada over the last few years have been non-English (and non-French) due to presumed licensing issues with distribution houses. Mostly, this can be an annoying experience, but in the case of many of the Korean dramas over the last few years, they are so great I am content with the subs or dubbing.
Arthdal Chronicles is another great Korean-produced series with a well-written script and solid cast. The characters are very engaging and the story line keeps you interested.
Definitely add to the watch list if you are a fan of historical fiction, fantasy, martial arts.
Update: unfortunately Season 2 loses two of its most important cast members in Lord Saya ) Eunseom and Tanya. Haven't begun season 2 yet but these were two severe losses for the show and its viewers. Once I begin watching Season 2 I will provide my verdict on these replacements.
