"Boots" surprised me in the best possible way. I went in expecting a lighthearted, campy gay series full of clichés and sass, but it turned out to be deeply moving and beautifully crafted. Each recruit's story was layered and heartfelt, giving real emotional weight to their struggles and triumphs. The writing strikes an elegant balance between humor and heartbreak, with moments of courage that linger long after the credits roll. The performances were exceptional, the character arcs felt earned, and the direction was sharp without ever losing its humanity. It's rare for a show to subvert expectations this completely, I wouldn't be surprised if it racks up a shelf full of award nominations.
"Elsbeth" is a delightful show with a unique twist on murder mysteries, starring Carrie Preston as the quirky lawyer Elsbeth Tascioni from "The Good Wife." Sent to New York City by the Department of Justice to evaluate the police department under a consent decree, Elsbeth also investigates the suspected corruption of the chief of police. Her eccentricity shines as she accompanies officers on murder cases, following her unerring hunches.
Much like "Columbo," the audience knows the murderer from the start, while Elsbeth unravels the evidence with her sharp intuition. Her vibrant fashion, odd details obsession, and multiple bags add to her charm. The show thrives on her developing relationships within the precinct, making it a heartwarming watch. Elsbeth's character fits perfectly in NYC's dynamic setting, leaving viewers eager for more of her unconventional methods and endearing personality.

1st season was excellent.
2nd season went off the rails, the writing for main storyline was really poor.
Supporting characters are excellent throughout.
