Ok, I came back home after jogging and walking in 85 degrees, I was dehydrated and half-conscious when I just turned to this movie, any beach movie attracts me. Man, this movie brought me back to life. It's so dumb that it snapped me out of my hazy state and I started laughing and didn't stop. The supposed surfing guy is so out of shape I couldn't stop laughing. Everyone is a Hawaiian stereotype, or a Caucasian stereotype, or a just plain nuts stereotype. If youre like me and search for grade z garbage movie that are so bad that they are good, don't miss this one. I don't wanna do any spoilers here, i won't say more.
You can read the other reviews that describe the plot adequately....
I'm in the middle of watching it for the 2nd time, and it's every bit as good as the first. Fortunately at my age, I've forgotten most of it, but I remember the first time I watched, at the end of the movie thinking, wow, this is the best movie I've seen in quite awhile!
Wanna know what movie it reminds me of? The plots are nowhere near each other, but I dunno, the mood reminds me EXACTLY of the 1990 movie Mr. Destiny. If you like that movie, (which I did), you'll love this one. A bit of fantasy, a moral message at the end of it, and some great actors/actresses passing through. James Marsden is fast becoming a favorite (just watched D Train yesterday), and hey, Reverend Jim (Christopher Lloyd) shows up more than once!
Ya gotta see this one.

I look for unknown, usually low-budget, really good movies. This is definitely one of them. It's about the lives of a real varied, eccentric bunch of characters. And it is funny and it is entertaining.(Reminds me of my days living in Brooklyn). It even has a character who definitely could be me. (No way I tell you which one!)
The movie is from 2001, so it's good to see some actors from some of my favorite little known movies of the 80s/90s. Dean Cameron, Matt Adler, Judge Reinhold, David Packer, all those who made the type of movies I search out and u should too.
If you wanna see a comedic low budget version of Melrose Place done very well, find this movie. The dialog is witty (I said witty, not intellectual), the acting is great (I suspect some improvisation occurred and done well).
A movie I'd pay full price for!
