I'm glad this documentary has been made because it shows how very strange and exploited Brooke Shields' youth was. I don't think it's stated strongly enough that Brooke was given sexual roles many times as a child. And that is horribly wrong. The word 'dissociate' comes to mind. With each role, her mother Terri would let Brooke do these obviously terribly inappropriate movies involving prostitution, teenage sex and soft porn, and Brooke and Terri would be asked about it and pretend it was all fine. It was a sad case of making money and succeeding at all costs. At the same time, Brooke was strangely portrayed as virginal. Brooke is a nice person but obviously is terribly conflicted and confused and doesn't want to deny her entire life. This show tries valiantly to explore some of the issues.
Steve Martin and Michael Caine are among the most entertaining, intelligent actors in Hollywood, and clearly they had a ball making this comedy.
The scenery in the French Riviera is almost too perfect - like a studio set. But the script, about two conmen vying for top dog status in scamming the rich and famous, is crisp and humorous. It wasn't laugh out loud funny, but very watchable. I worked out what the ending would be a mile away but the subsequent epilogue was clever. One of the best things about this movie is it gives the impression that there are conmen like this in real life on the Riviera. It's almost as if the super rich are fish for these guys catch for fun. An old fashioned, dialogue focused movie for sure, but a decent film.

I am binge watching The Dry and so far it is great. It is so refreshing to see a modern family drama that is down to earth, witty and honest. At first recovering alcoholic Shiv is the sinner, but as time goes on, everyone among her family and friends is shown to be far less than saintly. It's a particularly poignant sight to see someone trying to stay sober in Ireland where you are treated as abnormal if you do not drink, and Shiv has to constantly try and avoid temptation. The series so far has a satisfying level of plot, which many series don't do well. The cinematography is warm and inventive, and the characters all have issues to resolve.
