There is hope
15 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Mabuhay!

I've seen a number of LGBTQ films from India and most of it ended in a not so ideal situations its like, it made me think "are you guys that anti-LGBTIQ?" I am so glad that they put an alternate ending in the film but they could have just ended it on a happy note . Its slow paced, a talky film, beautiful characters, I like the twist in the end.

There's just no excuse and it should be a crime
20 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Its nice to discover such film exists in Turkey but they need to catch up with the rest of the world. Although it was not clear if the male lead is gay because he did not categorically answered the question instead his words are situational but what is important is that bullying in all levels and forms is wrong and should be dealt with the full extent of the law.

Deserves a Second Season
19 December 2021
When the "grand daddy" (Japan) of BL stories flexes its muscles, it just tramps everything in its path. This is so good, its like eating my favorite cake and ice cream all at the same time. Its not over the top, its not overly acted, the storyline is easy to appreciate but it does make you excited on what is going to happen next, its cohesive, its just so delectably freakingly gooddddddd. What i also like about the series is the familiar faces i've seen on other BL films especially Shirasu, i will always love "Life - Love On The Line". This series brought me feelings from "We Best Love" and "Light On Me". Lovveeee it!!!! I hope they get to have a Season 2 with original casts of course. Thank you.

Hauntingly Beautiful and forward thinking
16 December 2021
I applaud the makers of this film because it was in the early 2000s, im not sure how the LGBTIQ+ community back then in Korea but this is a forward thinking film yet a period one. I've also read comments that this is not an LGBTIQ+ film like what are they talking about? Okay let's just say its extreme bromance. Im just not sure why Gong Gil's features was likened to a woman just to express femininity. Anyway, the plot and the storyline are extremely good, its captivating, and the i am always on the edge that one of them will be killed. For me, it was better than Brokeback Mountain.

Korean formula works for BL stories
16 December 2021
I've watched the "The Tasty Florida" the movie version on Rakuten Viki. Its really a rom-com with a pinch of drama type of movie or series. I think Korea has really mastered the formula in making light-hearted, feel-good, sweet and short BL films. But as I watched, it gave deja vu moments like im watching to my star, my sweet dear, bite me and WBL. The characters in TTF are all so good looking, the props are cute, the plot is simple yet so entertaining (no need for overthinking), and a big props to film makers and actors even though we're still in the pandemic they continue to make films. For those who are quite new to BL films this would be a good addition to your list of "must watch".

Heartbreakingly Delicious
18 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
They're kindred spirits. The heteronormativity is overtly done while the homosexuality is covertly done but the latter where the emotions involved is palpable, its kinda like a mist where in the beginning and towards the end when its gone one can see the true picture. The most memorable part of the film is towards the end where he chose who he really loves most and being with each other until the end. The only part where remorse (i think) can be found is when they prayed together and put on the religious necklace. The plot is really heavy though.

is there any hope?
17 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I love period films but i already had an inkling that it may not have ended well for certain main characters in the story. The film evokes helplessness amidst power, commitment amidst torture, for better or for worse, alive but not living. The setup was superb, A1 actors, just the right amount of everything. I just hope to see a mexican gay film that has a happy ending.

I love the music, its nice to see colin morgan again, this is not your usual love story. Eccentricity and mental health comes to mind. This is not my cup of tea.

emotionally exhausting
28 April 2021
This film has really given me the feels. Its really emotionally exhausting and bitter-sweet at the same time. It will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. And one good point is that it touches issues on mental health and the army. Self-violence will never be an answer to one's problem.

Rainbow of Realities
28 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
First and foremost, the plot is emotionally entertaining yet draining, although its fiction but the realities shown in the film happens in real life. The plot can also trigger certain yearnings that humans looks or expects to have or even experience in real life. For aesthetics (im not sure if its just my screen), overall sense of colors i've felt and seen in the film were in the shades of black, gray, red, and a little bit of white, im not sure if it wants to trigger certain nostalgic innermost emotions. Anyway, the feeling of struggle, brokenness, the yearning to be open about who you are versus society wants you to be, to love and be loved, being blind-sided, death and rebirth were quite represented in the film. For the ending, "for now" it can go both ways, depends on the viewer, well, in the end you choose your own happiness.

"Free Interpretation"
21 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The main actors were very attractive. Acting-wise quite on point. I've seen a number of Korean LGBTIQ+ films/movies/series, and I feel like most of them ends ambiguously although the film was a little way back in 2014 compared to now 2021 were more positive / happy endings have been made. I like the plot and how it slowly builds up to its momentum and how it simmered down to the main characters in the end. The steamy scenes were done right and added flavor to the movie. It was quite ingenious how a big sign that says "free interpretation" was inserted during the course of the film. One should just need to be focused while watching the film because you can get lost and (may) fail to appreciate the movie. All in all, i'd say its something that I would recommend to watch but at the same time saying "why is it so difficult to love this film". Enjoy.

for the hopeless romantics with a twist
20 April 2021
Well, the story has the usual BL plot but it has those areas where it can be more interesting to watch. The actors do have chemistry but sometimes, especially the main actors, their acting prowess needs to be more layered. I would definitely wait for the Season 2 because I would like to see how the twists will unravel in the end.

Rebirth
4 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As a whole, i love the concept of the movie. It would be wonderful to go back in time and try to settle things once more. Some of the actors were well suited for their roles while some needs more spunk. The transitioning from one scene to another needs more smoothness. I believe the minute details could have strengthen the foundation of the movie. The end part was fabulous, although, im not really sure if its a trend in China to end scenes that provoke one's imagination to wonder what will happen now. I've seen a number of pink films / bl stories from this country and it has always that end scene that makes one wonder.

Starting Over Again
3 April 2021
I like how the film showed another realm of the LGBTIQ+ community and it can really happen in the real world. The title speaks for itself that in one's life the minute details has a connection to what is happening in one's life. Its like dwelling on the grey area of life, that life is not really black and white. The end scene evokes an emotion from me of connection, of starting over again, of being true to one's self, support, and feelings, and finally acceptance, love and looking forward to a new beginning.

Holy Friday

Sacrifices one has to make in the name of love. For me, what the film is trying to to convey is that the circumstances in the story are just so real. It can happen especially in places where there's no legal recognition of same sex union. If you are you someone who are nursing a broken heart for whatever reason can really make you melancholic in a way. Acting wise, its not over the top, just the right amount of pink salt here and there. I like the light-heartedness in the scene where he asked his mother in law if she really is in pain. And the boy, (Yo Yun) was on point, and mind you, he's just a little boy in real life. Anyway, after watching the movie, i sang this song "Kiss today goodbye And point me toward tomorrow We did what we had to do Won't forget, can't regret What I did for Love".

Love Wins
1 April 2021
If you are the type of person who wants to believe in love again, this film is for you. I like how the stories tried to shed light on the different settings that an LGBTIQ+ individual or those with partners may experience especially when trying to build a relationship, not only with each other but the people that matters to them. Actually, its not really different from heterosexuals. Of course, its case to case basis because its dependent on where you live. I love that the majority of the series tried to aspire the definitions of relationships, trust, family, home, moving on, death, living your truth, distance, love-making, longing and most importantly love. Its pure, its clean, its love, its being human.

Coming Out (2014)

Relatable it is
31 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this on gagaoolala app just today. The movie was released in 2014. As the title goes "Coming Out" was really more focused on the struggles of an LGBTIQ+ individual when expressing their true selves to the people who matter to them as well as their emotions on the person whom their heart has chosen to love. Some of the myths about being LGBTIQ+ were demystified. I love the tension when he was about to tell his male bestfriend what he really feels about him. Of course, there are other less ideal situations when an individual come out and the film just focused on certain dimensions at that time. Its bittersweet and I love the end scene because it symbolizes new life, new challenges and a promise.

Bittersweet Tragic
31 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
"Melody of Love" (Bokura no ai no kanade) is a classic BL movie just watched it today. BLs from Japan really have a distinct style of presenting a story. Anyway, the plot of the story is quite simple, its just like reading a short story, acting was a little bit off maybe the actors were just starting out. Spoiler alert, non-traditional ending BL lovers out there this is for you......it hurts!!!

Do you go for someone you love ? or someone who loves you?
27 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
"if you love someone set them free; if they come back to you it was meant to be." I'm going to start at the last episode/scene, for me, it was really open for interpretation, I don't know who Hai Qing will choose to come back to in the end. To think about it, Han Fei and Jimmy were pretty much (i assume) older than Hai Qing and the two may have more experiences in the real world. In my mind, there's a lot of "red flags" or problematic how Hai Qing process things, im not sure was it because he's an artist, eccentricity may be, and the way he processes things is through art. Actually, there were a number of juxtapositions and contradictions, if im going to interpret he gave his painting to Yan Fei which may symbolize hai qing's heart but he also sent postcards to Jimmy which may symbolize a nurturing (or continuity) relationship or friendship. Or am I just overthinking? Or is it a matter of do you go with someone you love or someone who loves you? Or that you would always come back to your first love? I love Hai Qing's father when he said something about "perfection" that sometimes its not the best choice. Anyway, I love the series because it can really happen in real life, the creators of the series really know how to capture the audience's imagination and the open questions that the end scene has created. Again, its not for the faint hearted, or certainly may not be anyone's cup of tea but this series deserves to be in my movie collection. Season 2 may hold the answer? Hahahaha KUDOS!!! To the team behind this series.

hauntingly beautiful yet enchantingly painful
24 March 2021
The film especially the ending is enchangtingly painful yet at the same time hauntingly beautiful. The last words "flickering until the day i die" was the final jab of an ember like spear to the heart. The steamy scenes were very graphic but done with finesse, its oozing with feelings of wanting, deception, lust, power, truth, fetish, submission, love? and greed. The whole plot seems complicated but that can so be relatable in real life. The film left me with feelings of believing in love but at the same time the hounds of unrequited affection are just around the corner waiting for that perfect timing to pounce. Again, life has to move on and letting go.....it left with me a naughty smile in the end. Kudos!!!!

Deviations works magic
10 February 2010
Mabuhay! I've got to tell you its a series worth following. I've seen quite a number of TV series and only a few really captured my attention. And the Adventures of Merlin is one of the few. So far, the story lines are very good though deviations are very sharp but its so working for me. By adding untraditional take on the story it gels gently with the current times which makes it more appealing to yours truly for example by casting Ms. Angel Coulby as the future queen of Camelot. Humor is very light but just right on target. The 2 main characters Arthur and Merlin are just perfect for their roles, a fiery arthur and a gentle as water merlin. I don't know if its just me but there are lines that sounds a little bit homo-erotic but it didn't affect my watching the series. I just hope that for every episode/season they'll put it a notch higher especially the graphics/CGIs. All in all its really a wholesome series that everyone will certainly enjoy and would take one out of the pains of the current crisis of our economy. Hey, 1 hour of a good thing is good for one's health in the long-run. Kudos Merlin team.
