As others have mentioned this is the Polish equivalent of the last years Estonia, and no less harrowing.
It comes with a slightly more linear narrative which is a good thing, though there is still no shortage of jumping about on the timeline, just less than normal.
The show presents a solid recreation which is faithful to the truth for the most part. What lets it down is the fictionalisation of one of the leading characters who is conducting his own investigation parallel to the inquiry on which he sits as panel investigator. The thing is this character is a fiction, as is what happens to him in the final episode which only undermines what is already a very solid and compelling narrative. The largely unknown Polish cast are exceptionally good here and the sinking sequences as effective as those in Estonia. It is a really solid show which deserves far more attention that its getting. It doesn't matter that this is another drama about a maritime sinking, each of them have unique elements that make them just as compelling as the other. I'm surprised we haven't had a TV drama about the sinking of the Herald of Free Enterprise yet. Perhaps one in the future will be coming. I will watch it too.

This is almost the same show as something that came out a few years ago.
Several extremely unlikable people who live on the same street, become even more unlikable as you come to know them better.
This is weak, poorly made television, aimed at the old discernible Sunday night drama crowd and its drivel of the highest order.
There's some great actors in here, Halfpenny, Penry-Jones etc, but you just don't care about any of them.
Damn raise your game.
Avoid at all costs.

Fantasy films can be fine B movies, the Sword & The Sorcerer directed by the late Albery Pyun is a brilliant example of the perfect tone of a great script set within this genre.
Sadly this film isn't even in the same league. The mixed bag of special effects and some of the odd casting choices could be forgiven if the script was strong, but the dialogue in this film is absolutely awful. Everything is so bland and flat and boring. There is no real character building, tension or sense of stakes half the time, we get a bit of world building but never really enough - let's shoehorn in a cyclops here and a giant scorpion there (in a box that we never see again) - we're told a forest is a really dangerous place, but its just another Eastern European wood. The wooded swamp in Krull felt more interesting than this.
The cast do their best, and Katrina Durden is woefully underused. This could have been great fun, but it's absolutely rubbish.
